Job Summary:

Drives completion of complex data projects by creating standards, defining patterns, and developing large-scale modularized data frameworks.

Responsibilities:

• Partners with technology leaders and oversees the development of data strategy with solution architecture, technology architecture, data governance, security, data science, machine learning, and compliance and creates reliable and repeatable large-scale data processes and automation.
• Leads prototyping core data products, services, and solutions.
• Leads multi-program data engineering teams by applying deep technology centered consultative skills. Provides expertise and comprehensive data engineering knowledge on current and future applications/systems and underlying information technology (IT) architecture.
• Combines state of the art, creative and research based practices to drive higher levels of data excellence and serves as a technical point of contact for strategic projects.
• Provides scalable data solutions to meet business needs that are consistent with enterprise standards, architectures and strategies by providing scientific, technical leadership and mentor-ship to other technical professionals to support enterprise needs and grow technical capabilities.
• Leads the designs and directs the governance activities and the assurance of enterprise data compliance. Drives the development of enterprise insights and recommendations for strategic enterprise projects that support evolving data strategy for new technologies.
• Creates designs for data products/subsystem that incorporate long-term compatibility and integration capability with products and services. Identifies and resolves issues early in the design process.

Required Work Experience:

• 5+ years of experience required in an engineering role using Python, Java, Spark, and SQL.
• Cloud Experience Required
• Knowledge in Hadoop and cloud platforms and surrounding ecosystems
• Experience with web services and APIs 
• Strong Linux/Unix background and hands on knowledge.
• Expertise with Shell scripting and bash.
• Expertise with version control platform github
• Expertise unit testing code.
• Expertise with development ecosystem including Jenkins, Artifactory, CI/CD, and Terraform.
• Understands concepts of Cloud Networking
• Understands concepts of Cloud Infrastructure 
• Ability to tune data framework and data pipelines for performance and cost.
• Ability to communicate engineering vision and value to leaders and teams.
• Ability to think strategically and map data engineering roadmaps path forward.
• Strong experience in visualizations and documentation of engineering concepts, frameworks, and patterns.  
• Experience contributing to and leveraging jira and confluence.

Requirements

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 2 year of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.

Additional Preferences

Desired Work Experience:

• 2 + years of management or lead experience preferred 
• Coding skills in Scala
• Principles of Data Science and Software Engineering
• Master level technology degree preferred
