Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Notifications Relevance

The Notifications team builds all notification products for Pinterest, including push notifications, email notifications, widgets and others. Combined, these drive a significant % of overall sessions and engagement on Pinterest, and are a significant way to bring people back to Pinterest.

The Notifications Relevance team, builds the core ranking and evaluation systems. In this  role, you’ll work on and lead a core part of the notifications ranking systems. The goal of the Notifications team is to send relevant and useful notifications, at the right time, to the right users.

What you’ll do:

• Leveraging your strong expertise in building large-scale recommendation systems, you’ll be responsible for innovating on our notification generation/ranking systems.
• Build new ML models and innovate on modeling for notifications generation and ranking.
• Propose new ideas, code to experimenting end-to-end for improving notifications, significantly impacting Pinterest growth/engagement through your work.
• Rigorously review the impact of these experiments and evaluate them for launch.
• Help mentor and lead other members of the team.
• Drive impact to topline metrics such as Pinterest MAU and engagement.

What we’re looking for:

• We’re looking for a candidate with 6+ years of ML practitioner experience.
• Experience in at least one of the following applications: notifications, user growth, recommendations and search.
• Expertise in building DNN/ML models.
• Hands-on experience with building models in TensorFlow/PyTorch.
• Experience in deploying and managing large scale ML models. 
• Well versed in algorithms, data structures, and coding. 
• Experience working on open-ended user problems and technical challenges.
• Strong coding experience in Python/Java.
