Within the Innovation team here at Nielsen we are charged with developing new systems, methodologies and metrics to achieve those ends for our clients. We answer never before asked questions, build repeatable systems to make answering new questions easier and look for the patterns in the questions we receive to build new products. Innovation Big Data Analyst Our analysts leverage data from across Nielsen, including our industry-standard measurement and our industry-leading content metadata to find new and innovative ways to answer our client’s most pressing questions. We use Python, SQL and SPARK to leverage our big data assets all within an AWS environment. If you like diverse work and using these technologies to answer interesting questions this is the role for you. Our team is small, diverse, and agile with the opportunity to work with lots of different data sets and technologies. Most importantly we need people who like to solve puzzles and answer interesting questions in new and innovative ways.

YOUR PROFILE A natural collaborator with a good head for data you are proactive with a pragmatic attitude and a commitment to quality. You want to use technology to find efficient ways to answer questions, and to that end you want to learn and grow your skillset and are ready to roll up your sleeves and learn. In addition, you posses

- A Bachelor or Master’s degree in a behavioral or data driven field (finance, economics, psychology, analytics) or proven experience in the field

- The ability to communicate clearly and work independently.

- Knowledge of and experience with Python and/or SQL. Experience with AWS, Terraform and Spark (or other distributed computing platforms) is a plus.

-  A fearless approach to problem solving, highlighted by a willingness to seek out answers via tools and people on your own

- Solid attention to detail

- Self starter able to manage multiple priorities

- Knowledge of statistical approaches to analytics is a plus

- Knowledge or desire to obtain knowledge of the Media industry

- A desire to help clients make better decisions and better understand their space
