About the Role

As our newest Data Architect, you would bring your knowledge of database architecture principles and standards to design a best-in-class system to integrate, centralize, and maintain clean data across KOHO. More than just understanding the strategic importance of data in a financial context, you’re able to build complex computer database systems that are accessible, useful, and secure. Please Note: This is a remote position based in Canada that is available to those who are legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

    • Use industry-accepted data architecture principles for modeling, stored procedures, replication, regulation and security to meet technical goals
    • Streamline data flows and models, with a focus on improving consistency, quality, cost, and accessibility
    • Design and maintain data lineage and governance for a variety of data sources
    • Work with Data leaders to create an end-to-end vision and strategy for data at KOHO

Desired Skills & Experience

    • Experience with Amazon Web Services
    • Minimum of five years of experience working with data
    • Full knowledge of architecture standards and best practices 
    • Experience writing complex SQL Queries
    • Knowledge of ETL patterns, including testing and maintenance
    • Familiar with relational / non-relational database approaches and knowing which to apply where and when
    • Understanding of hot/warm/cold data concepts and when each is appropriate
    • Understanding of event-driven and stream-based processing patterns
    • Ability to think holistically about uses of data, designing for ease of data access
    • Working knowledge of one of Python, Java
    • Experience with Kubernetes cluster management is an asset
    • Experience with data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark

Nice-to-Have Skills

    • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Dataflow, PubSub)
    • Knowledge of Go
