Responsibilities

This is a full-time remote position within the United States.

The Clinical Specialty and Informatic Unit within the Section of Hospital and Surgical Systems in the Departmental Systems Division is looking for a developer to join the Medical Informatic team as a Data Engineer.  The Medical Informatic Team mainly develops and maintain the analytical infrastructure that enables most functions in the data world to support Anesthesiology and operation room across the Mayo Clinic enterprise.

The successful candidate will be collaborating with other engineers to analyze, integration, and transformation various data sets to develop, test, and deploy new data pipelines from a wide variety of data source formats using on premise and cloud technology to support analytics and machine learning applications and solutions as part of an assigned product team using framework or various open-source programming languages to meet the desired design functionality for products and programs.

Candidate must have strong SQL, ETL skills and Tableau experience to be able to work collaboratively with stakeholders to create visualizations that represent the needed analysis. Candidate will be responsible for development, test, maintenance, and optimal data pipeline architecture for large-scale medical related databases in GCP using Big Query and other state of the art systems. Candidate may also be involving in creating, and maintaining data set processes for verification, acquisition, mining, and modeling of clinical data through micro-services and API’s.

Ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions. Excellent analytic skills associated with working on structure/unstructured datasets. Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency, and metadata in GCP. Develop and test large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements. Continues to build knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers. Performs a range of mainly straightforward assignments.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited University or College; OR an Associate’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited University or College with 2 years of experience.Demonstrated ability to analyze and profile data as a means to address various business problems through leveraging advanced data modeling, source system databases, or data mining techniques, is required. May provide consultative services to departments/divisions and committees. Demonstrated application of several problem-solving methodologies, planning techniques, continuous improvement methods, and analytical tools and methodologies (e.g. data analysis, data profiling, modeling, etc.) required. Incumbent must have ability to manage a varied workload of projects with multiple priorities and stay current on healthcare trends and enterprise changes. Interpersonal skills and time management skills are required. Requires strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and recommend solutions, advanced computer application skills and a commitment to customer service. Experience with data analysis, quality, and profiling; including data exploration tools including but not limited to Rapid SQL, AQT, Information Analyzer, and Informatics.N/A.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have working experience in Data Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering and data science or analytical modeling.
  • Experience using scripting languages (Python, JavaScript).
  • Experience leveraging micro-services using a high-level language (C#, C++, Java) for data access and analytics.
