Position description

Responsibilities:

Responsible for analyzing and visualizing clinical and administrative data sources utilized by Mayo Clinic Laboratories (MCL) for trends, insights and outliers. Very comfortable with writing SQL queries against complex data sources and provide insights to help make data driven decisions. Proposes and creates innovative and appropriate data solutions (dashboards, reports, business intelligence tools, etc.). Develop deep understanding of business process and design solutions to address sophisticated business needs. Experience with data transformation and ETL tools is desired. Uses business intelligence, data visualization, and data transformation tools to deliver insights for MCL customers. Ability to work on multiple initiatives and ability to reprioritize based on changing demands. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, inquisitive, and able to take on new challenges without having all the parameters. Open to new learning and not afraid to pose difficult questions. Ability to work with cross-functional teams is a must.

Provides technical and project leadership to other staff members, demonstrates initiative, and works independently as needed to accomplish responsibilities. Works effectively across departmental organizations gaining consensus of stakeholders.

Qualification:

  • 5+ Years of experience with SQL (SQL Server, Oracle) and business intelligence reporting.
  • Strong experience in healthcare data analysis is a plus.
  • 2+ Years' experience with Tableau and/or Power BI.
  • 2+ years' experience working with Extraction, Transformation, Load (ETL) or ETL developers.
  • Experience with Data Warehouse and Data Mart design.
  • Experience with Google BigQuery is desired but not required.
  • Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience, including 1 year demonstrated technical experience; Or, Associate’s degree and 7 years’ experience, including 1 year demonstrated technical experience.

Authorization to work and remain in the United States, without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorship now, or in the future (for example, be a U.S. Citizen, national, or permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).

Additional qualifications

Applies effective system design principles and software development methodologies. Demonstrated ability to multi-task among multiple complex assigned tasks/projects. Evidence of strong communication, meeting management, and organizational skills and ability to adjust the message as appropriate to the audiences of varying technical capabilities. Evidence of project management skills. Possesses an objective and positive attitude with all tasks and projects. Possesses a high level of project and deliverable consistency through demonstrated repeatable and reliable performance. Evidence of ability to take initiative and proactive on starting tasks and assignments and ability to work independently. Experience working in healthcare technology. Exposure to managing both custom developed and vendor-supplied applications. Masters degree in applicable field preferred.

Compensation Detail

Required education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The salary range every 2 weeks is approx. $3,171-$4,439 based on a full-time position.
