Position description

Mayo Clinic is establishing an AI Center of Excellence within the Center of Digital Health and is looking for a manager to help build this exciting new initiative. We are looking for someone with people and product management skills to lead a team that will quickly grow to more than 20 people, using agile processes, a product management mindset and people empowering style.
The ideal candidate has both a broad understanding of the potential of AI and a deep appreciation of the challenges of implementing AI in healthcare. The AI CoE Manager will work closely with leaders across the enterprise to support an end-to-end lifecycle for AI capabilities from ideation through deployment and ongoing product operations, including operationalizing the AI process playbook. The right person for the job will apply their deep knowledge of AI to solving real-world problems faced by healthcare and finding opportunities for improvement across multiple projects, teams and business units.

Responsibilities:
• Lead day to day AI Center of Excellence activities required to operationalize AI by working directly with product owners, informaticists, data scientists, IT, as well as quality and regulatory teams
• Operationally run service lines and teams within the AI Center of Excellence.
• Build, develop and maintain AI models, reporting systems, automation systems, dashboards and performance metrics support that support key business decisions.
• Design, build and support technical processes to guide customers from idea to post-implementation support, including creation and automation of an AI process playbook, oversight of FDA Software as a Medical Device submission process and Quality Management Systems.
• Recruit, train, develop and supervise data science, informatics, quality assurance and other CoE employees.
• Manage and optimize processes for intake, design, modeling, QA, and engineering.
• Assign and track work, provides performance evaluations and feedback to maximize individual and team effectiveness.
• Anticipate future demands of initiatives related to people, technology, budget and business within your department and design/implement solutions to meet these needs.

This position can work from anywhere in the United States. Some travel may be required due to business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in a domain-relevant field such as bioinformatics, clinical informatics, biomedical engineering, computer science, or data science and 4 years’ experience working with Artificial Intelligence tools.
• Two years' experience in line management of staff and contractors, ideally using agile development processes.
• Two years’ experience with healthcare data, software implementation process, and regulatory compliance.

Additional qualifications

• AI algorithm development experience is a plus.
• Strong preference for candidates with healthcare AI implementation experience.
• Strong preference for experience implementing new enterprise process solutions.
• Experience with OKRs and delivering on them within scheduled time frame.
• Experience developing collaborative relationships and partnerships with business and technology departments that drive business results, including the ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences.
• Understanding of digital practice and electronic health records and experience delivering well integrated, effective product on a regular cadence.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical plans in order to analyze data, interpret results and recommend solutions to enable teams to make decisions around optimizing or understanding product investments.
• Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities.
• Strong ability to initiate and drive projects with tenacity to deliver results in a complex environment and to manage numerous processes, people and projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively deliver presentations as well as communicate clearly and concisely in writing.

Compensation Detail

Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.  The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $4,729.60, based on a full-time position.
