About the team
The Data Science & Engineering (DSE) team consists of data scientists and software engineers with diverse backgrounds in math, operations research, economics, computer science, engineering and business. The team is responsible for enabling data-driven decision making and building data products at Wealthsimple. We achieve these goals by:
1. Building a high quality and scalable state-of-the-art data warehouse that powers all decision making
2. Leveraging machine learning and algorithms to help Wealthsimple build smarter financial products
3. Using decision science to understand the cause and effect of our business decisions
About the role:
We are building a multi-product company with a growing offering including Invest, Cash, Crypto, Trade and Tax products.
As a Data Scientist on the Clients Algorithms team, you will play a pivotal role in improving the client experience and operational workflows that power our business. You will work closely with the client experience and the core operations team, a highly cross functional team consisting of full stack developers, product managers and operation specialists, to find new opportunities to enhance the client journey π
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Develop our client-facing chatbot to connect with our clients faster and improve client interactions
- Enable better client and operations decisions through data modelling, explorations and improving data accessibility
- Improve existing Machine Learning models for enhancing the client onboarding experience
- Collaborate with product management and engineering stakeholders to drive direction and strategy
- Collaborate with other scientists and engineers working on a variety of growth, fraud, NLP and deep learning problems
- Work with a large amount of autonomy
We are looking for someone who:
- Has 3+ years of strong SQL & Python skills coupled with experience working with popular Python libraries such as Pandas, scikt-learn, numpy and Jupyter
- Brings strong understanding of fundamental machine-learning algorithms: regression and decision trees
- Brings strong understanding of statistics: both frequentist and Bayesian approaches
- Has strong foundations in experimental design, statistics and domain knowledge in marketing
- Is an excellent communicator who is able to tailor our fraud fighting narrative to their audience
- Loves data to make better decisions and believes that simple is better
- Has experience with Apache Airflow, and a BI tool like Periscope, Mode Analytics or Tableau (this is a bonus!)
