Purpose of Job

We are seeking a talented Junior Level Decision Science Analyst. As a Decision Science Analyst, you'll extract, explore, validate, and cleanse data using advanced coding techniques. You'll design and apply analytical and statistical models to segment, describe, and communicate analysis, metrics and reports to drive key business decisions and corporate strategies. This position is available hybrid from any of our HUB locations; San Antonio TX, Plano TX, Charlotte NC, Colorado Springs CO, Phoenix, AZ, Tampa FL or 100% remote - work from home.

Within defined guidelines and framework, provides decision support for business areas across the enterprise. Staff in this area will be responsible for applying mathematical and statistical techniques and/or innovative /quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make 'insight to action' recommendations to answer business objectives and drive change. The essence of work performed by the Decision Science Analyst involves gathering, manipulating and synthesizing data (e.g., attributes, transactions, behaviors, etc.), models and other relevant information to draw conclusions and make recommendations resulting in implementable strategies.

  • Thoroughly documents assumptions, methodology, validation and testing to facilitate peer reviews and compliance requirements.
  • Delivers analysis/findings in a manner that conveys understanding, influences up to mid level management, garners support for recommendations, drives business decisions, and influences business strategy.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative analytics field such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Data and/or Business Analysis, Data Science or other quantitative discipline; OR 4 years of related experience in statistics, mathematics or quantitative analytics or related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Up to 2 years of experience in a decision support analytic function years of experience in data/analytics, or directly related functional business experience (i.e. P&C, Bank, Finance, etc.).
  • Foundational knowledge of statistical/mathematical decision making and/or testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, developing analysis queries and procedures in SQL, SAS, BI tools or other analysis software, and relevant industry data & methods and ability to connect external insights to business problems.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in SAS/SQL
  • Experience in Tableau or equivalent BI tool
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, manage competing priorities and prioritize workflow

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $51,700 – 93,200*(this does not include geographic differential it may be applied based on your work location)

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

*Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.

Shift premium: will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
