In this role, you will report to the Senior Vice President of Software Engineering and be responsible for leading, designing, and developing our products and technology alongside a team of highly skilled data engineers. You will work in close partnership with product managers, product owners, scrum masters, and quality assurance engineers. A strong understanding of modern cloud technologies and a history of building and managing scalable data engineering teams is essential. This role is crucial to our transition to a cloud-based infrastructure, with a particular focus on AWS-based data engineering solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy: Develop and implement the data engineering strategy to support our transition to the AWS cloud, ensuring alignment with company goals. Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Cloud Migration: Oversee the migration of existing data engineering processes to the AWS cloud platform, ensuring a seamless transition while minimizing downtime and maintaining data integrity.
  • Technology Implementation: Design, develop, and implement data pipelines and workflows using Amazon Glue, Step Functions, Lambda Functions, Batch, and other AWS services. Integrate these pipelines with other data engineering tools such as dbt, AirFlow, Iceberg, DuckDb, RedShift, Tabular.io. PowerBI, Tableau, Open Metadata, and knowledge of Graph DB will be a plus.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams including Data Science, Analytics, Product Development, and IT to ensure data engineering initiatives support broader business objectives. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with industry standards and regulations. Implement best practices for data governance and metadata management.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, continuously seeking opportunities to improve and optimize data engineering processes and tools.

Essential Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field. At least 10 years of experience in data engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in AWS cloud technologies, including Amazon Glue, Step Functions, Lambda Functions, Batch, and related tools. Experience with dbt, AirFlow, Iceberg, DuckDb, Tabular.io, RedShift, PowerBI, Tableau, Open Metadata, and Graph DB is highly desirable.
  • Management and Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams. Experience building and scaling high-performing data engineering teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and creativity. Ability to navigate complex technical challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Agility and Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and drive results.

Additional Information:

MedeAnalytics believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $200,000 - 210,000 USD. Please note that actual compensations for all roles may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, relevant work experience, professional achievements/qualifications, skill level, business need, location and will be finalized at the time of offer.
