Job Overview:

As a leader within the Data & Analytics Enablement team, you’ll play a critical role in shaping and supporting the data ecosystem for all of Olive. The data engineering squads that you’ll be leading are responsible for implementing our enterprise data lake, data warehouse, critical data integrations and pipelines, and supporting our various functional analytics teams on their mission to create meaningful insights from the data that Olive collects. As an engineering leader at Olive, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the way that we approach data engineering as a practice and help shape the tools and technologies that the organization uses.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, and Data Architecture functions within the Data & Analytics Enablement organization
  • Have 2-3 team leads as direct reports
  • Serves as an evangelist for data engineering, analytics, and data management in support of growing the data-driven culture at Olive
  • Partners with the Principal Data Platform Engineer and other technical leaders at Olive to define and execute a data engineering roadmap that supports Olive’s growth
  • Owns the core data engineering roadmap in support of critical data infrastructure (Data Streaming Framework, Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Data Orchestration)
  • Coach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee on-boarding and providing career development planning and opportunities
  • Understand company business objectives and build alignment and buy-in with internal and external teams


  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering-related experience spanning multiple technology stacks
  • 3+ years of experience leading and working with a team of data engineers or analytics engineers
  • Experience incorporating SDLC, Quality Management, and Agile methodologies into the data & analytics delivery environment
  • Proven strategic and tactical thinker, able and comfortable translating business strategy into architectures / plans and equally comfortable rolling-up-your sleeves to problem solve with your team


Tech Stack and desired experience:

  • Experience using AWS or other virtualized infrastructure providers.
  • Expert abilities working with multiple flavors of SQL-based and NoSQL databases: Athena, Redshift, DocumentDB, etc.
  • Experience in Python, Scala, Java, PySpark or another programming language to deliver data engineering and analytics-focused services
  • Experience with cloud-based streaming technologies including Amazon Kinesis, Amazon EventBridge, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Azure Stream, etc.
  • Experience working with serverless and container based services such as Kubernetes, Docker, AWS Lambda, and AWS Glue.
  • Experience with an orchestration tool like Apache Airflow
