Olive is made possible by a technology platform which allows her to understand the data emanating from the work that she does and to use that data to get smarter over time. Data Platform Engineers work with the Olive Product Management team to deliver features that allow Olive to store, process, and manage massive amounts of data. They also work on developing new tools and foundational capabilities that allow our engineering and analytics teams to efficiently and scalably gain insight into the work Olive is doing and deliver ever increasing value back to our customers. The Data Platform Team is a small squad that relies on individual members to independently drive small-to-medium features all the way from technical design to launch. A successful Data Platform Engineer will possess strong analytical as well as technical skills, have experience building repurposable data features beyond individual data pipelines, and have the ability to communicate the logic behind technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Engineers and Product Managers to create new platform features, integrations, and capabilities based on the needs of our distributed data teams
  • Ability to meet deadlines and satisfy requirements from other Engineers and Product Management
  • Quickly produce well-organized, optimized, and documented analyses, code, and reports
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently across all divisions including with the business, technical teams, and leaders
  • Take technical ownership of tasks and successfully work independently
  • Demonstrate the ability to become a domain expert in projects
  • Set up tools and processes for effective data loading, data loading, lineage tracking and monitoring and drive quality across data within the data ecosystem.
  • Continuously improve our data infrastructure and stay ahead of technology


  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or relevant equivalent experience
  • 4+ Years of data engineering experience
  • 1-2+ Years of experience working with healthcare data
  • 3+ Years of experience building data pipelines and creating data architecture
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Experience building and maintaining event streaming platforms ( Kinesis, Spark, Security, Producer and consumer API’s)
  • Expert knowledge of Big Data and AWS concepts ( Hdfs, Yarn, Hive, S3, EC2, EMR)
  • Familiarity with SaaS Data Warehouse Technologies (Redshift, Snowflake)
  • Familiarity with SaaS Data Lake Technologies (Athena, DataBricks)
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
  • Experience writing and reviewing detailed Technical Design Documents (TDDs) is a plus
