We are looking for an experienced data science leader to join the Insights team in our Data and Insights Tribe. In the position you will help drive an insights-led, data-informed culture in the teams that build our internal tools and infrastructure.
Your team will study user behavior, workflows, and data flows. Moreover we develop meaningful insights that will directly inform product and design decisions on our platform.
As a Manager you’ll be a hands-on leader of a team of 3-6 professionals from both data science and user research backgrounds, focussed on improving our Analytics tools and infrastructure.

What you'll do

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams of skilled engineers, data scientists, user researchers, product managers and designers who are all passionate about creating a world-class experience for all our data-savvy employees.
    • Communicate insights and recommendations to key partners. Helping to activate standard methodologies in the Data Analytics platform teams as well as the analyst and engineering communities across all of Spotify.
    • Define metrics and build and analyse dashboards, reports and key datasets to empower data-informed product development.
    • Perform exploratory analysis to understand who our users are, how they get value out of our offering and where we can further develop our product to bring greater value
    • Remote work set up available until reopening of the offices, then the role will be based in New York

Who you are

    • You have significant experience with people management and leading insights or data science teams.
    • You deeply value and have experience in hiring, coaching and leading diverse and high-performing teams.
    • You have recent experience working hands-on in a data science or quantitative user research role, with practical chops you don’t mind dusting off from time-to-time. You’ve done the work over the years, and understand what it takes to create awesome user experiences.
    • You know how to understand and tackle loosely defined problems and come up with relevant answers and meaningful insights!
    • You have a user-first, data-focused mentality and bring passion and playfulness to your work and those around you.
    • An extraordinary communicator, with the skills to help you work cross-functionally.
    • You shine when motivating others to carry forward and execute a strategy!
    • You are hungry to learn and evolve in all things. From leadership skills to craft to process to industry and market trends.

Where you´ll be

    • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
    • Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the Americas region in which we have a work location and is within working hours. 
    • Working hours? We operate within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration and ask that all be located that time zone.
