As a Lead Data Scientist-Optimization/Operations Research at General Mills, you will apply your strong expertise in machine learning, data mining and information retrieval to design, prototype and build next generation advanced analytics engine and services. You will collaborate with product owners, business partners and other Data Scientists in the consumer marketing and media space to define technical problem statement and hypothesis to test. In addition, you will develop efficient and accurate analytical models that mimic business decisions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead, design, and execute exploratory and applied analyses in the areas of simulation, modeling and optimization, and operations research of key business objectives
  • Work closely with data science leadership, engineering, and business partners to develop optimization and machine learning models using best in class tools and technology.
  • Provide technical leadership through strong partnership and providing solution alternatives.
  • Accountable for the analytic solution design across data science, ML engineering and reporting.
  • Create production ready, scalable models that provide real time insights that align with General Mills technology standards.
  • Serve as a senior leader as part of the data science leadership team- contribute to technical strategy, best practices, and team development.
  • Coach junior data scientist on key technical and domain topics through solution reviews and mentoring.
  • Act as a thought leader in data science techniques and represent the Digital and Technology organization.
  • Partner with functional analytic teams to align and integrate solutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in Operations research, Statistics, Industrial engineering, or Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in the field of data science 
  • 2+ years applied experience in operations research, optimization, or similar field
  • High proficiency with Python programming in developing optimization models using different types of solvers suite
  • Hands on experience building Integer/Mixed Integer Linear programming, Network/route/price optimization models with sound knowledge of supporting algorithms
  • Comfortable working with large and dynamic Data Frames & writing complex SQL queries
  • Highly adaptable, curious, and willing to work independently on complex and challenging problems
  • Bias for action with ability to deliver outstanding results through task prioritization and time management
  • Expertise with leading the development of large-scale AI and machine learning based models

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience with cloud bases AI platforms 
  • Applied experience in supply chain, logistics, pricing, or other commercial area

  • This position is remote eligible
  • Relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $121700.00 - $203000.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifictions, etc. As such, pay for the succesful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
