Overview

Blue Buffalo is seeking a Data Scientist to be a critical member of Consumer & Market Intelligence Business Analytics team. As the Data Scientist at Blue Buffalo, you will be responsible for bringing tools and capabilities to Blue Buffalo to help achieve business objectives through analysis and modeling.  You will manage a strategic partnership with central CMI and lead the delivery of category forecasting and demand spaces for Pet and lead application of the learning with Blue business teams.  You will be the connector of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party data sets for analytic use across Blue Buffalo. As the Data Scientist, you will lead analytics using multiple data sets that will drive the acquisition of new pet parents and growth for Blue Buffalo.

Key accountabilities

  • Develop innovative tools and capabilities that help business partners achieve objectives through
  • analysis and modelling
  • Curate and connect data sets for broad analytic usage
  • Own the identification of emerging trends that could create risk or growth opportunities for Blue
  • Lead advanced analytics research using 1st party data to understand strategies for gaining new pet parents
  • Manage strategic partnership with central CMI and lead the delivery of category forecasting and Demand Spaces for Pet
  • Lead Blue’s D&T pod to ensure data sources are connected and Blue CMI is meeting the needs of Blue Buffalo’s business team
  • Lead advanced analytics of Blue Buffalo’s brand equity data
  • Be a part of the team, collaborate, ask questions, engage, and solicit feedback from other

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Market Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Data Science, or related field
  • 3-5+ years of experience transforming data from multiple sources and conducting business analytics
  • Experience and comfort with statistical analysis, modeling, clustering and data mining techniques to identify trends and insight
  • Mastery with modelling tools (i.e., R, python, SPSS, etc.)
  • Expert knowledge of syndicated data (e.g., POS, ecommerce data sources, household panel)
  • Ability to synthesize multiple data sources to build and tell a fact-based story with credibility
  • Excellent collaboration and organizational navigation skills and agility to work on multiple projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proactive problem solver that has strong business acumen
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate and build relationships virtually

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Consumer Behavior, Data Science or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in business analytics working with a NAR Segment OU
  • Expertise in a variety of traditional and modern qualitative and quantitative research techniques
  • Proven ability to work in an agile environment
  • Expertise within advanced analytics and development of statistical models
