Senior Enterprise Architect, Product Data Strategy

OVERVIEW:

The Senior Enterprise Product Data Architect will be a critical role within ETSAI (Enterprise Technology Strategy, Architecture & Innovation) group of General Mill’s D&T (Digital and Technology) organization and will act as an advisor to leadership to develop overall product data architecture strategy and vision for the company. This role’s key responsibility will be to architect solutions for end-to-end management of product data from cradle-to-grave & from systems of origination to customer & consumer across all channels (B2B, B2C, B2B2C, Market places). This role will partner closely with the platform teams to ensure a performant and resilient product data architecture.  Additionally, the Senior Enterprise Product Data Architect will work closely with Product Owners to determine their goals and outcomes, eliciting and analyzing requirements and creating tech strategy and architecture to enable both current as well as future needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead Enterprise Product Data Architecture and related technical strategies providing thought leadership in the areas of master data management, data modelling, data governance, data transformations and data integration.
  • Proficiency & experience with designing product data centric database models, datasets (e.g. PLM – Product Life-cycle Management, PIM – Product Information Management, Product syndication).
  • Define the business capability model, reference architecture for product data domain for the organization.
  • Lead multiple highly visible strategic and transformative initiatives around product data that impact and influence business outcomes (e.g. PLM replacement, PIM rollout, Product syndication pilot).
  • Create and maintain current, target state architecture and track maturity of product data ecosystem capabilities (e.g. PLM, PIM) along with standards/patterns for interfaces.
  • Define SOT, SOR and SOO for enterprise product data assets; define and maintain end to end data flows for product data domain.
  • Provide end-to-end view on how all components of product data and product content ecosystem fit together (e.g. PLM, PIM, DAM, CMS, CSP – Syndication providers).
  • Define the overall product data model addressing use cases across R&D, Marketing, eCommerce functions.
  • Partner with key data and technical resources (e.g. Enterprise Integration Architects, Infrastructure leaders) and vendors to define data strategy, design & develop data frameworks, domain data modelling & document solutions.
  • Perform end to end impact assessment for any technical change and how it may impact upstream and downstream systems and processes.
  • Strategically engage with stakeholders across General Mills and serve as an expert advisor to leadership on enterprise product data architecture topics.
  • Facilitate data architecture review forum with solution architects, data engineers to ensure compliance to standards (integration patterns, data management) and review the data solutions and manage technical debt.
  • Consult, advise, provide SME expertise to project teams on anything and everything related to enterprise product data architecture.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 15+ years of experience working in Data Architecture domain including Master Data Management (MDM), Data Quality, Data Analytics/BI, Data Integration/ETL, Data syndication.
  • BS/BA Computer Science / MIS degree or equivalent experience 
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in the product data domain with expertise in PLM (Product Life-cycle Management), PIM (Product Information Management), CSP (Content Syndication Provider) technologies.
  • Proficiency with Data Modeling experience (e.g. Relational, Dimensional, Big Data)
  • Proficiency with data transformation & ETL tools.
  • Experience in architecting product data solutions to enable marketing, eCommerce use cases – product content syndication, Digital Shelf enablement, product content analytics and optimization.
  • Proficiency with data modelling, enterprise architecture diagraming tools (visio, Sparx, Bizzdesign, ErWin etc.).
  • Deep understanding of data and how it relates to architecture (Data ingestion, Realtime, Batch, SQL, NoSQL, Analytics, etc.)
  • Ability to draft proposals of cost vs. benefit/value of proposed architectural changes.
     

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess the ability to tailor technical communications to any level (Exec to Developers).
  • Have strong technical leadership with change management skills.
  • Experience in PIM, CSP technologies, preferably Stibo, Syndigo, Salsify.
  • Ability to break a problem of any size into manageable pieces.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise integration with an emphasis on scalable patterns.
  • Knowledge of product data syndication requirements to retailers and their implications to the data management
  • solutions.
  • Experience in CPG, Retail industry.
  • Proven track record of learning and adopting emerging technologies and new tools/vendors.

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Remote work-at-home applications will be considered.
  • Travel Required: 10%; to HQ (Minneapolis) based on the business needs e.g. critical in-person workshops.
