The Core Machine Learning team sits within the broader Data Science group in the Atlassian Corporate Engineering Organization. We work with several business teams in GTM, growth, product, and many other teams providing machine learning infrastructure and modeling applications, to increase revenue generation, expand our active user base and enhance internal productivity and efficiency. Our team consists of ML scientists and engineers, and provides many opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and individual growth. This is a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and implement the latest machine learning techniques, including LLM (large language models).

What you'll do

  • Focus on ML applications and ideas for content recommendation, personalization, and insight generation

  • Build machine learning models, and work on Generative AI projects

  • Translate business problems into technical solutions

Your background

  • Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and graduating between December 2024 to June 2026

  • Able to commit to a 12 week full-time (40hrs/week) program during Summer 2024

  • Bachelor and above degree in a quantitative subject (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or relevant work experience)

  • Experience writing software with minimal bugs in Python, Scala, or Spark; SQL experience a bonus

  • Experience building machine learning models in academic coursework or related industry intern experience

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable and explainable compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience.

In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $58/hr - $66/hr

Zone B: $52/hr - $60/hr

Zone C: $48/hr - $56/hr

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
