Manager, Big Data Analyst (Remote)

Within the Innovation team here at Nielsen we are charged with developing new systems, methodologies and metrics to achieve those ends for our clients.  We answer never before asked questions, build repeatable systems to make answering new questions easier and look for the patterns in the questions we receive to build new products.

Our Strategic Solutions Team leverages data from across Nielsen, including our industry-standard measurement and content metadata to find new and innovative ways to answer our client’s most pressing questions.  If you like leading a diverse and agile team who love a good puzzle, and are committed to partnering with collaborators from across an organization, this opportunity may be for you.

Responsibilities

    • Lead team of 4+ analysts who use technologies such as SPARK, Python and SQL on a daily basis.
    • Assigning projects, assessing workload, and ensuring sufficient development opportunities for each associate.
    • Helping team members problem-solve analytical and interpretative challenges within their projects.
    • Work closely with the commercial teams and their clients to understand client use cases and lead project design, collaborating with project management, tech, data science, and analysts to help clients move their business forward and unlock new value in Nielsen data.  
    • Support commercial team with client touchpoints where deeper expertise is required (explanation of methodology, requirements, managing scope creep).
    • Accelerate revenue growth by detecting common threads in client requests to identify opportunities to invest and scale new products

Profile

    • A Bachelor or Master’s degree, preferably in a Management, Behavioral or data driven field.
    • Experience in media is a plus.
    • A strong desire to help clients make better decisions and better understand their space7+ Years of Management experience.
    • A fearless approach to problem solving.
    • Comfort with leading a team of highly technical Analysts.
    • Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with some combination of distributed computing systems, SQL and Python.
    • Solid acumen around project management and process.
    • Excellent communication skills.  Experience communicating with commercial stakeholders a plus.
    • A natural collaborator ready to partner with constituents from across the org.
    • Solid analytical acumen, including experience leveraging big data.
    • Knowledge of statistical approaches to analytics is a plus
