Operations Reporting Analyst

How will this role have an impact?

Under the supervision of the Manager of Decision Analytics, the Operations Reporting Analyst will design and develop metrics, reports, and analyses to drive key business decisions.  He/she will need to understand and interpret enterprise data for the primary areas within Operations (Production, Client Services, Recruiting, Scheduling, CDI, and Coding).  Subsequently, this individual will receive requests from all members of the Operations management team, so he/she must have the ability to prioritize tasks and communicate effectively. 

The Operations Reporting Analyst will provide a link between management and reporting, which will require strong statistical and critical thinking skills.  He/she should also feel comfortable designing new reports, validating existing reports, and creating presentations to adequately represent data and recommendations to leadership.  To accomplish this responsibility, the Operations Reporting Analyst will be working cross-functionally with Technology, Product and Operations.  This individual may need to leverage the others within operations and technology to fulfill his/her responsibilities.


What will you do?

  • Examine existing reports to understand current operational performance and identify opportunities for operational improvement
  • Assemble and analyze data for business reports, making sure data and calculations are accurate
  • Understand operational data structures and create SQL queries to retrieve data
  • Document data structure/definitions for meta-data, data mapping and warehousing and reporting requirements
  • Monitor and resolve performance issues of different dashboards, optimizing their use
  • Establish which data is applicable and the methods which should be utilized to evaluate them
  • Create new metrics, analyses, and reports to further understand business operations and satisfy gaps in understanding
  • Work with leadership to track KPIs, create reports, and develop dashboards related to large corporate initiatives
  • Deliver ad hoc analyses and reports at leadership’s request
  • Utilize internal and external statistical studies to develop practical solutions
  • Provide action-oriented recommendations to leadership based on data-driven evidence and reporting trends
  • Assess the operations of an organization to present suggestions to problems and generate procedures for enhanced decision making
  • Collect supplemental information by engaging in dialogue with leadership and staff and observing processes
  • Present quantitative and qualitative data in such a way that it demonstrates a purpose-drive approach and supports recommendations
  • Assist with routine staffing analysis compilation
  • Analyze and report on both internal survey results
  • Assist with maintenance of departmental reporting wallboards as needed
  • Participate in evaluating new technologies so as to ensure the advancement of technology architecture and data within organization business intelligence needs
  • Be on time, ready to work at assigned work location on a daily basis

  • Work overtime as determined by business needs
  • Assist other departments as needed

We are looking for someone with:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in data analysis, report development, and business analytics
  • Extensive computer software skills with programs such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Access
  • Experience in writing SQL queries and creating Tableau reports or an equivalent reporting tool to create impactful reports and dashboards
  • Experience with statistical packages such as SAS or SPSS, preferred
  • Experience integrating data analysis into business operations (i.e., assisting with business intelligence)
  • Past healthcare experience or an understanding of Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial offerings
