Why TrueAccord?

TrueAccord is a category-defining company. We combine machine learning with a human-based approach to transform debt resolution and to get people on the path towards financial health. Every year, more than 70 million Americans have negative experiences dealing with debt. We are changing this by providing personalized digital experiences that guide lenders and consumers through this challenging financial process.

With a world-class leadership team, passionate team members, and proprietary predictive models trained on years worth of transactional data, TrueAccord is well-positioned to deliver on a huge opportunity: helping millions of consumers to regain and keep their financial footing while lowering the cost of doing business for creditors across many industries.

The Role

TrueAccord’s Analytics team is responsible for driving our business forward with data. The Principal Data Analyst will join a rapidly-growing team of highly motivated people who take the TrueAccord mission seriously and are determined to succeed. As with every position on the Analytics team, the ultimate objective of this role is the development and delivery of analyses to cultivate TrueAccord’s strategies and optimize performance.

As the most senior analyst on our team, you will be a recognized expert on all aspects of Analytics at TrueAccord. You will lead the most complex (and sensitive) analytical projects and will partner with executive stakeholders in creating best-in-class analytics solutions for mission-critical challenges. Moreover, you will also help define and drive the strategic direction of the Analytics department by serving as a mentor and role model for the less-experienced analysts on the team. The right person for this role is someone who not only knows how to make delivering innovative solutions a routine exercise--but who also knows how to teach that skill to others. This is a very high-profile role that has a significant impact on TrueAccord and is integral to the company’s success.

Summary of Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Act as an Analytics product manager for TrueAccord’s internal and external business operations; Work closely with stakeholders in Client Success, Product & Engineering, Sales, Finance, and the call center to ensure that all tactical and strategic objectives are supported by the timely and accurate delivery of reporting, performance measurement, forecasting, and inventory controls
    • Demonstrate end-to-end mastery of Analytics workflow for all assigned projects: Translate a request into an analytical framework (including hypothesis formation), extract relevant data, generate actionable insights through analytical model development, and clearly communicate practical solutions back to the stakeholders
    • Achieve scale within Analytics by optimizing analytical tools and techniques, automating processes and removing blockers
    • Use data and analysis to identify tactical and strategic opportunities; Turn findings into business cases for executive review, with clearly-presented recommendations, justifications, and cost/benefit assessments
    • Occasionally represent Analytics team in executive-level presentations (including both TrueAccord Executive Committee and senior client stakeholders)
    • Serve as a leader on the Analytics team by sharing knowledge, mentoring other analysts, and reinforcing best practices; Help develop and facilitate professional development program for team
    • May lead an individual analyst on a semi-permanent basis, with formal supervisory responsibilities

Requirements:

    • A minimum of 8 years of experience using quantitative data analysis to solve problems and drive performance is required
    • Mastery of SQL, paired with equal proficiency in data visualization and storytelling, is necessary
    • Proven ability to build complex models from scratch, perform deep analyses, and turn raw data into actionable insights
    • Demonstrated pattern of being analytically curious, drilling into root causes and business impacts to answer not only “Why” but also “So What”
    • Ability to merge business objectives and technical data expertise seamlessly to build effective tactical solutions that also align with long-term strategies
    • A deep understanding of proper testing practices, statistical experiment design, and results analysis
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on presenting complex material to executive audiences clearly and concisely
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills--with the ability to facilitate, negotiate, and influence within in a team environment and across functions
    • Track record of coaching and mentoring less-experienced analysts on the team
    • Attention to detail and accuracy, while maintaining a solid awareness of the big picture, are extremely important
    • Must be able to work effectively with little direct supervision and in the face of ambiguity, shifting priorities, and multiple deadlines

Very Nice To Have:

    • At least 10 years of relevant analytical experience
    • Prior experience in a supervisory role
    • BS/MS degree in an analytical discipline: finance, statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, etc.
    • Experience in Financial Services industry--with major bonus points coming from relevant experience in the debt collections space
    • Experience providing data analysis solutions in a call center environment
    • Familiarity with a statistical language, such as R or Python
    • Competency with data visualization or business intelligence tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI
    • Experience setting priorities and managing expectations, while balancing stakeholder requests with business constraints
    • Experience using data-driven insights to influence process improvements
    • Experience leading initiatives to tackle technical debt
