Atlassian is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to be the primary analytics partner to our Community & Learning team. We're looking for someone with business instincts, creativity, Data Science mastery, and experience working with teams; someone who is passionate about applying these skills to build a measurement culture connected to growth.


What you’ll do

  • Influence strategy & important decisions around Atlassian Community by understanding the role that Community plays in customer experience and the value it has to the Atlassian business.

  • Define, set and report on department level KRs to the GTM Executive team

  • Build mental models and measurement frameworks that identify and move users from initial engagement to potential champions & brand advocates.

  • Envision, scope, and lead high impact projects by collaborating with Community, Research, Product, Engineering and Customer Success

  • Promote a measurement culture and understand the impact of our internal strategy and campaigns, by designing and analyzing experiments or running causal analysis to understand impact

  • Build tools to automate reporting and create insights to allow Community / Marketing leaders to quickly see how our programs are performing.

  • Foster a world-class Data Science culture - Leading by example, continuous learning and mentoring Data Scientists on the team


Your background

  • Experience applying your Data Science skills to identify and lead projects which have had impact on business strategy and performance

  • 8+ years of experience in Data Science or related fields. (Preferred - 10+ years experience with a post-graduate degree in a quantitative discipline like Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Computer science)

  • Expertise in applying a broad variety of statistical / DS concepts (e.g Regression, Trees, Clustering, A/B testing) to business problems and a strong sense of when to apply them to the problem at hand.

  • Expertise in SQL and a high level of proficiency in another data science programming language (e.g Python, R) with expertise in libraries like Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn etc.

  • A very high bar for output quality, while balancing "having something now" vs. "perfection in the future"

  • Comfort explaining complex concepts to diverse audiences and creating compelling stories

  • Proficiency in visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, R-shiny, streamlit) and libraries (e.g. - matplotlib, bokeh)

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $201,300 - $268,400

Zone B: $181,200 - $241,600

Zone C: $167,100 - $222,800

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
