Senior Analytics Engineer

Senior Analytics Engineer

HubSpot’s Finance Automation and Science Team (FAST) is hiring for a Senior Analytics Engineer. FAST partners with stakeholders to evaluate reporting opportunities and prioritize initiatives based on what moves the needle on scale, enabling our stakeholders to achieve more in less time. Our team of skilled technical engineers leverages modern tech stacks (like Snowflake, dbt, and Looker) to facilitate comprehensive reporting and automation solutions. Through our expertise, we empower data-driven decision-making by seamlessly translating complex data into actionable reporting/insights, ultimately driving strategic growth and innovation. We are now growing our team to take our impact to the next level.

In this role, you will design and build the data infrastructure required to meet HubSpot’s future scale and enable the Finance and partner teams to make smarter, data-driven decisions as we continue to grow our business. You will also take on complex data challenges related to internal reporting and analytics, work with peers to help manage our data infrastructure, and provide leverage to each other and to a network of other operational teams within HubSpot. This role is deeply cross-functional, and you will work with Finance stakeholders and technical business partners to understand business priorities and implement solutions that create leverage and drive actionable insights. If you're passionate about data and thrive in an environment that values creativity and collaboration, this is your opportunity to shape the future of finance through cutting-edge reporting automation.

In this role, you'll get to:

  • Build out scalable data models and customized looker reports to analyze critical parts of the HubSpot business.
  • Expand our suite of dbt patterns and macros to enable flexible and easily extensible data structures
  • Collaborate with both technical and non-technical areas of the business, bridging the gap between the business problem and the technical solution.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (including our central Data Engineering team and other Ops data teams) to identify opportunities for improving systems, processes, and decision-making.
  • Support distributed operations teams as they utilize these foundational data models for management & reporting
  • Define/refine project requirements with business stakeholders.  Participate in key touchpoints to keep stakeholders informed throughout projects and provide documentation to enable your deliverables to speak for themselves.

We are looking for people who have:

  • Minimum of 4+ years of work experience delivering reporting/automation/BI solution
  • Expert knowledge of modern data tools (such as Snowflake, dbt, and Looker)
  • Intermediate to expert-level experience writing Python/Java code
  • A self-starter mindset and can adapt well to changing priorities
  • Experience building and optimizing data pipeline, architecture, and data sets, and are able to convey solutions to a technical and non-technical audience
  • Experience to code-management/version control tools like git Enterprise on several peer-reviews, feature branch, resolving conflicts and commits
  • Experience providing technical leadership and educating other engineers on best practices in data engineering
  • Experience working with AWS big data technologies (S3, Glue, EC2, EMR) and/or other cloud-based services is nice to have.
  • Experience working with Finance teams is a plus but not required.
