As a Senior Data Engineer at UHC, you would be responsible for database architecture, engineering, design, optimization, security, and administration; as well as data modeling, big data development, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) development, storage engineering, data warehousing, data provisioning and other similar functions.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Platform-as-a-Service and Cloud solution with a focus on data stores and associated eco systems
  • Management of design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance, ensuring strict data quality, and performing needs assessments
  • Analysis of current business practices, processes and procedures as well as identifying future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilities
  • Management of relationships with software and hardware vendors to understand the potential architectural impact of different vendor strategies and data acquisition
  • Design schemas, write SQL or other data markup scripting and helps to support development of Analytics and Applications that build on top of data
  • Select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
     

Other Core Tasks include:

  • Data Analysis including new and existing processes to ensure data flow is correct
  • Optimize all processes including SSIS data jobs, SQL Stored Procedures and Queries for high performance and execution
  • End to end problem solving which could involve upstream and downstream data partners
  • Monitor SQL database daily via data checks, execution plans
  • Oversee all database processes daily for integrity and improvement
  • Create new architecture as needed based on data needs for new projects
  • Ensure security & compliance for data governance
  • Work independently
  • Continually reviewing processes to ensure data integrity and performance
  • Evaluate opportunities for optimization (i.e. datamarts, query structure)
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and/or data partners to achieve goals
  • Understand data as it pertains to our customer base to improve the customer experience
  • Effectively communicate with the team and our partners

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years relevant work experience in database architecture, engineering, design, optimization, security, and administration; as well as data modeling, big data development, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) development, storage engineering, data warehousing, and/or data provisioning
  • Advanced experience with SQL Server           
  • Advanced experience with ETL Services 
  • Advanced experience with SSIS / SSRS 
  • Advanced experience with Database Architecture        

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/BA 
  • Advanced experience in .Net
  • Advanced experience in OOPS with C#
  • Advanced experience in JavaScript/jQuery/CSS
  • Advanced experience in IIS Hosting

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $85,000 to $167,300. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
