Here at Optum, we are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Enterprise Clinical Integration and Interoperability (ECII) team and work on a technology scrum team that is developing solutions and supporting business leaders who are working to ensure CMS compliance and increase STARS ratings. You will be part of a team that is providing innovative technical ideas to solve complex healthcare business problems, working with business and technical leaders across multiple lines of businesses to drive and implement solutions using a variety of tools and technologies.
The ideal candidate is team oriented and has a strong innovative spirit with the ability to teach and mentor peers. This role will work as a key member of the scrum team and will require deep, hands-on technical skills in designing, developing, testing, implementing and supporting.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design and architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainable software and should be able to clearly articulate the implications of design/architectural decisions, issues and plans to technology leadership
- Design and develop software applications and application components in an agile environment
- Work with geographically distributed teams, with ample opportunity to learn from and mentor teammates in a fast-paced environment
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and software engineering best practices to other software engineers
- Develop reusable patterns and encourage innovation that will increase team velocity
- Collaborate on the design with other team members and product owners, both inside and outside the scrum team
- Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code developed meets or exceeds coding best practices guidelines, unit testing, security, and scalability and maintainability guidelines
- Drive a quality mindset within the team
- Anticipate issues and act proactively to address potential issues
- Work with sometimes ambiguous / conceptual requirements and guide the technical team to provide functionality with the right amount of engineering
