The mission of the Data Foundry team is to enable internal users as well as event creators and attendees to leverage our data assets in order to drive business growth.   The team is challenged with building a shared data platform and functioning as the resident data engineering experts at Eventbrite.

THE TEAM

The Data Foundry team is responsible for building a scalable, reliable and extensible platform to power data-driven decisions and products at all levels of the business. We are a small team with an oversized impact on the company’s results.

You’ll be a key member of a small engineering team responsible for building the next generation of data infrastructure.  Responsibilities will include writing and supporting ETL processes and the computing and storage infrastructure underneath. Moreover, you will support the development of a robust, modular, and extensible platform for the creation, monitoring, and deployment of machine learning models.

You’ll work on exciting projects that touch all parts of our data ecosystem, including working with technologies such as Python, SQL, Spark, Presto, Hive, Luigi, Airflow, MySQL, Redis, Superset, and Tableau.

THE SKILL SET

  • 5-7 years professional work experience in a technology, start-up, data engineering role

  • Deep understanding of measuring and ensuring data quality at scale.
  • Expertise in cloud computing, preferably AWS, security, cluster sizing, and performance tuning. Ability to set up processes and systems to monitor and reduce cloud computing costs for a large organization.
  • High proficiency in dimensional modeling techniques and their applications

  • Attentive to detail with strong quality control, especially in regard to large-scale data changes
  • Solid problem solving and analytical skills; able to quickly digest any issue/problem encountered and recommend appropriate solution options
  • Collaborate with peers to find solutions to complex problems. Share knowledge with your peers and also learn from them as required

BONUS POINTS

  • Ability to coach analysts and data scientists on software engineering best practices (e.g., building testing suites and CI pipelines)
  • Experience building software tools that help data scientists and analysts work more efficiently (e.g., writing an internal R or Python tooling package for analysts to use)
  • Demonstrated experience working in large-scale data environments that include real-time and batch processing requirements (using Spark, Presto, and Hive)
