Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Analytics Engineer to join our Data team to help manage existing data resources, implement new technologies and tooling to further enable science and analytics, as well as drive scalable data sharing practices. In this role, you will split your time between hands-on dbt model development and new custom integration build-out activities. You will own data environments, integrate with new technologies, and oversee the development of new processes that support teams across the national organization. You will gather requirements through direct interaction with business, data, as well as software development teams. 

The ideal candidate will have outstanding communication skills, proven data infrastructure design and implementation capabilities, strong business acumen, and an innate drive to deliver results. He/she will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, and will enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a team member responsible for helping to bridge the gap between business and technology, the Analytics Engineer role requires equal amounts of business acumen and technical acumen.

  • Provide technical guidance
    • Serve as Data Model subject matter expert and data model spokesperson, demonstrated by the ability to address questions quickly and accurately
    • Provide scoping and estimation feedback to the business for custom integrations
    • Develop and maintain all custom integrations for non-standard datasets into our Snowflake data warehouse. 
    • Drive issue resolution and ensure production data pipeline uptime
    • Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale database environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.
    • Additionally, be able to roll up your sleeves and build and review BI reporting where needed, with a small but growing team. 
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders within and across departments
    • Ensure collaboration with Engineering leadership and across Engineering teams
    • Engage with users and key stakeholders to understand problems and requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • A desire to work in a collaborative, and intellectually curious environment
  • 5+ Years of Data Warehouse Experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, PostgreSQL, etc Demonstrated strength in SQL, data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing
  • Experience in maintaining data warehouse systems and working on large scale data transformation using DBT (Data Build Tool), Airflow, Fivetran, Stitch, or other Big Data technologies
  • Coding proficiency in Python and API Integration projects 
  • 2+ years' experience building reports and dashboards in a data visualization tool such as Looker
  • Proven track record of sharing outcomes through written communication, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

Bonus points if you have experience with:

  • Experience with cloud compute provisioning, forecasting compute usage, and securing cloud data warehouses
