Who you are and what you'll do

As an analytics engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the data layer for our analytics stack, top to bottom. Part data engineer, part data analyst, and part the connective tissue in-between, your responsibilities will span from raw data up through cleaned, organized, and sometimes analyzed data. You’ll apply software engineering practices like version control, automated testing, documentation, code review, and continuous integration to our data stack. In a particular week, you will find yourself:

- Working with data analysts, designing and writing the right schema to unlock their analyses
- Working with engineers to model our data for easy use by all
- Working with product managers to help them understand their data so we can build the right experience for our users - teachers, directors, and parents
- Writing custom pipelines to extract, rearrange or ship off new data streams
- Owning the data warehouse and acting as the data model SME


Minimum Requirements

    • Proficiency in SQL, knowledge of Python, and ability to write code that is performant, iterable, and easy to debug (dbt experience is a bonus!)
    • Experience with data warehousing architecture and dimensional modeling best practices
    • Ability to analyze data to discover actionable insights, often using repeatable methods
    • Self-motivated and proven self-managing skills
    • Strong analytical aptitude and the ability to rapidly understand business context from new data assets
    • A strong understanding of data quality testing
    • 4+ years of experience in the data space as an analyst, engineer, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

    • Degree in a STEM area
    • Knowledge of B2B SaaS funnel metrics, including modeling and analyzing metrics such as customer acquisition, activation, conversion, and retention
    • Knowledge of Git and CI/CD best practices
    • Exposure to DAGs, experience w/ Airflow 
Brightwheel offers a competitive compensation package (base salary, equity and benefits) with a strong emphasis on equity-based compensation (ownership in brightwheel). For cash compensation, brightwheel sets standard ranges for all roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In alignment with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual cash compensation for this role in Colorado is targeted at $122-150K. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
