This Role
Brightwheel is seeking a talented Sr. Data Engineer to join our Data + Analytics team and take on a mission to improve and scale our data infrastructure and pipelines, contribute to data modeling efforts, and help implement the right level of data governance. This role will empower the organization by ensuring we have a solid data infrastructure that sustains all our analytics and data science efforts. The ideal candidate has a passion for data and coding, strong knowledge of the modern data stack, and is adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

    • Implement systems to quantify, monitor, and improve data availability, quality, and stability.
    • Develop and manage scalable data pipelines, and build out new integrations with internal and external data sources.
    • Partner with data analysts, data scientists, and engineers to design and build data models as part of our analytics-ready EDW
    • Perform root cause analysis on data logging and ingestion processes, identifying opportunities to improve instrumentation and observability
    • Be a key contributor to the technical vision and long-term strategy of the team

Minimum Requirements

    • 5+ years of data engineering experience building & managing data pipelines 
    • Advanced knowledge of SQL and good command of Python
    • Experience designing schemas and data modeling
    • Fluency with workflow management tools, like Airflow or dbt
    • Experience with data governance and data quality
    • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Degree in a STEM area
    • Experience with DBT and Git 
    • Familiarity with AWS ecosystem and Redshift
    • Familiarity with event tracking, related tools, and reporting 
Brightwheel offers a competitive compensation package (base salary, equity and benefits) with a strong emphasis on equity-based compensation (ownership in brightwheel). For cash compensation, brightwheel sets standard ranges for all roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In alignment with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual cash compensation for this role in Colorado is targeted at $130,000-$190,000. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
