Using data science we are developing a platform to help facilities managers increase the comfort for occupants of their buildings whilst decreasing their costs and environmental impact. Through both direct sensor readings and inferred, machine learning-based outputs we surface previously unknown or unmeasurable information to offer a holistic picture of buildings and their use. As a result we can offer insights, recommended actions, and predictions to aid planning in a real-time fashion never before possible or practical - for reasons both of hardware availability as well as data storage and processing. We innovate at the edge of what can be done in the new era of IoT, and data science is central to the company’s goal of offering ever-more useful insights to our clients.
We maintain strong software development practices at all times and, above all, a mindset focussed on deployment. It is through this culture the data science team ensures its effectiveness and ability to quickly deliver value to our clients. In this way the data science team remains central to all stages of product development from innovation, development and testing, deployment, iteration and ongoing maintenance. We seek those with a strong focus on product development and driving customer value alongside robust software development best practice, mathematical and machine learning focus, management of machine learning deployment, and a growth mindset.
In the Data Science Team We:
- Design novel software applications based on sensor inputs and machine learning models from concept through physical experimentation with sensors, to development of software products, to production deployment in the cloud
- Collaborate with other domains of the business such as EngOps, front- and backend-engineering teams, sales, operations, and product development
- Experiment with new technologies to harness an unparalleled dataset through innovative ideation
- Retain robust software engineering practices at all times with an eye always on long-term maintainability, readability, reliability
For This Role We Look For:
- A strong academic background grounded in mathematics and statistics, or equivalent work experience
- A strong level in Python, or a reasonable familiarity with Python and demonstrable strength in several other languages
- An interest in innovating new machine-learning products for real-time event-driven applications
- Always a preference for the 80% solution in production over the perfect solution on a laptop
- A keen interest in product development and awareness of commercial factorsAn interest in the deployment of machine learning models in production environments
What You Would be Doing:
- Working in cross-functional teams to develop new and innovative products based on machine learning and statistics
- Working collaboratively to ensure products are developed in line with customer interest
- Working with others to plan and implement project work with guidance
- Spending one day a week on a structured learning programme
