The role

As an engineer within the Data Assets team, you will help build the world richest and most extensive model of resource and energy usage in building. To do this we will build a next generation serverless data warehouse blending a wealth of data sources.

These models will underpin our entire data strategy: allow our ML engineers to build cutting edge products for our customers; enable us to build a strong data culture where data underpins every decision we make and help build a data platform which can grow to support billions of IoT sensors across the world.

Our tools and technology will adapt as we scale and you will play a central role in defining the technical architecture, working with peers from across Data and Tech. We will implement governance and security, ensuring data is reliable and accurate, all whilst growing our data pipelines by orders of magnitude.

We are looking for a data engineers who want to work on the most interesting data available at a very high volume!

What will you be doing? Glad you asked!

    • Use a variety of serverless ETL & ELT tools to build data pipelines.
    • Design and champion best practise in data modelling. 
    • Develop a deep understanding of the domain and build data models that are the right fit.
    • Build tools to govern retention, control access and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
    • Support your colleagues to enable a happy productive team.

    • Skills developing data pipelines using modern data engineering tools like Spark, AWS [Batch/Glue ETL,Step Functions, Lambda] DBT, Airflow.
    • Fluent building data pipelines in SQL, pyspark, python, pandas Deep understanding of how to scale pipelines to support big data volumes (+1B rows/ +1TB data).
    • Experience in applying the AWS toolset to solving data engineering problems.  
    • People oriented - keen to support and help others.
