Infogrid is helping protect the planet and improve the lives of billions of people by making every building a smart building.

Our goal is to be the global provider for connected devices in smart buildings. We already handle millions of events every day from tens of thousands of sensors and we’d like you to help us scale that by an order of magnitude over the coming months.

Sustainability is at our heart; buildings account for 39% of global carbon emissions and we’re creating real solutions to impact this!

We are still early in our journey but have already achieved a lot; we raised a successful series A funding round, grew 5x in employee numbers within 12 months, and voted one of the top 10 most flexible places to work.

Want to know more about how we'd building Infogrid? Our CTO wrote a blog post about this.

The Role

Infogrid is a rapidly-growing company utilising extensive data insights from deployed sensor hardware for our clients at scale. We have existing Data Science and DevOps functions which work in close collaboration to develop novel data-driven products.

The company has grown from UK beginnings through European expansion to emerging presence across the Americas and Asia in the last two years. As we seek to establish global operations we aim to establish data engineering as a dedicated function; we seek a highly-experienced data engineer to develop this function in close collaboration with our DevOps, Data Science, and Backend Engineering teams.

There is extensive scope to define the tools and approaches to build the function from the ground up, and an expectation of growth within the team over time as the company continues to expand.

What we're looking for

    • Extensive experience in relational and non-relational database management and data modelling
    • Extensive experience in the creation and maintenance of data pipelines
    • A commitment to infrastructure as code
    • Demonstrated success in a line management position

This is what you will do

    • Take ownership of our data models across AWS regions as we expand to a global company
    • Manage the development of data pipelines to support product development from the Data Science and Backend Engineering teams, as well as Business Intelligence
    • Champion best practice in data engineering; act as the domain expert and leader for this function
    • Hire and develop the careers of further data engineers as the company continues to grow
