The Role

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to join Prosper’s Data Engineering and Business Intelligence team. As a BI Engineer you will work with a variety of teams (Product, Marketing, Engineering, Data Science, Operations, etc.) to measure, understand, and monitor key business metrics across all applications. The ideal candidate has SQL experience and will be the go-to expert for the data and analytics ecosystem. You will work on essential data to automate dashboards while communicating your analytic findings to the business stakeholders. This role reports to the Director of Business Intelligence and works closely with business teams to understand and replace existing data access and ad-hoc analyses. Ideally, the successful candidate is curious , driven, and wants to be part of a creative and innovative culture in fintech.





Problems You Will Solve

    • Work closely with DBAs, Product Managers, and Engineers to become a source-data-expert
    • Build partnerships with business users, analysts, and data scientists to understand data, reporting, and analytics requirements
    • Build enterprise analytic dashboards for leadership
    • Field ad-hoc questions centered around data quality and data parity
    • Oversee the quality of the source data being used for data warehousing and reporting
    • Lead self-service tool training and domain knowledge discussions for broader analyst community
    • Help migrate any existing on-premise analytical workloads to our cloud platform
    • Validate test cases to ensure that scripts will evaluate the business function being performed
    • Clearly document and communicate changes to data environments
    • Support business analysts on data access best practices

All About You

    • Computer Science Degree or equivalent work experience
    • 2 years’ experience SQL developer (e.g. T-SQL, PostgreSQL, Big Query, etc)
    • 2 years’ experience business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, Looker, Mode, etc)
    • Demonstrated advanced understanding of data structures for reporting and analytics
    • Financial services background preferred

    • Nice to have
    • ETL tools (e.g. dbt, SSIS, Informatica, Alteryx, Talend, etc)
    • Python or related object-oriented programing experience
