The Role
We are seeking a Data Engineer to join Prosper’s Data Engineering and Business Intelligence team. Our Data Engineers are responsible for data services including ETL pipeline implementation, data warehouse architecture, data quality automation and integration both on-prem and in the cloud. The ideal candidate has deep SQL experience and seeks to create highly performant queries that result in robust data warehouse tables that drive business insight. This role reports to the Director of Business Intelligence and works closely with business teams to understand and replace existing ad-hoc data access and analysis. Ideally, the successful candidate is smart, driven, and wants to be part of a culture of innovation and creativity in fintech.
Problems You Will Solve
- Works closely with DBAs, Product Managers, and Engineers to become a source-data-expert and maintain optimal data warehouse performance
- Builds partnerships with business users, analysts, and data scientists to understand data, reporting, and analytic requirements
- Creates automated ETL pipeline that self-repairs and self-validates or alerts the team
- Work with source system developers or systems to create and improve data flows between internal/external systems via our MS SQL Server 2017 data warehouse and GCP Big Query Data Lake
- Clearly documents and communicates changes to Data Warehouse or Data Lake environment
- Support business analysts on data access best practices
- Helps explore and evaluate new technologies
- A curious, self-motivated, resourceful, critical thinker
All About You
- Computer Science Degree or equivalent work experience
- 3 years expert level SQL developer (e.g. T-SQL, pgSQL, BigQuery, etc)
- 3 years expert data modeling
- o Conceptual, logical and physical model design
- o Operation Data Stores, Enterprise Data Warehouses, Data Marts or Lakes
- 1 years experience in following areas:
- o Scripting or querying experience (e.g. Python, R, MDX, DAX, etc), OR
- o Business intelligence tools or analytics/modeling in:
- Finance OR
- Marketing OR
- Operations OR
- o ETL tools (e.g. dbt, SSIS, Informatica, Alteryx, Talend, etc)
- Scrum experience is nice to have
