The Role  

Prosper’s lending strategies have been powered by ML (machine learning)/AI (Artificial. Intelligence) models since 2015 and have continued to advance into new areas with proven performance and scalability. The Director role is newly created to build next-gen machine learning/AI research capabilities from the ground up. You will initiate and build critical ML/AI capabilities by working in engineering closely with data scientists, credit strategy analysts and third-party solution providers. In this role you will work with a fast-paced and talented team that values innovation and teamwork.  

Problems You Will Solve

    • Work with a team of passionate, smart, and ambitious engineers who are working on building large scale systems to make Prosper a ML-driven organization. 
    • Learn from and help shape our company's engineering culture  
    • Assess new data sources and prototype new methods to increase conversion and engagement to better serve a broad spectrum of consumers  
    • Collaborate with scientists/engineers to deploy the challenger models into production environment  
    • Lead by example to show passion and enthusiasm towards new challenges and never cease to challenge the status quo  

All About You

    • Possess 7+ years of experience in consumer lending industry or related consulting services with broad exposure to ML/AI solutions  
    • Have a strong background in applying cutting edge ML/AI techniques to solve business problems  
    • Architectural vision of Machine Learning Pipelines and data warehousing principles 
    • Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals such as algorithms, design patterns, and distributed systems architecture 
    • Experience implementing and managing Data Warehousing and Big Data systems 
    • Experience with end-to-end scalable application development. 
    • A passionate leader and thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset  
    • Ability to formulate business problems and roll-the-sleeves to prototype new solutions  
    • Solid statistical and data mining background  
    • Advance degree (M.S./PhD) preferably in statistics, computer science, engineering, physical sciences, economics or related technical field  
    • Outstanding communication skills – ability to effectively communicate complex concepts in plain English, and comfortable with technical details to communicate with cross-functional stakeholders  
    • Hands-on experience with Machine Learning languages and packages such Python and R. 
    • Experience using cloud services in GCP or other cloud providers 
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills – collaborate with people internally and externally to build strong relationships
