Health IQ is seeking out a data analyst to empower informed decision making around our business and product strategy.  Reporting to the Chief Actuary, this role will involve heavy analytical work to turn data into stories and actionable business recommendations.  If you are a high performer with a blend of technical skills and critical thinking looking for a fast-paced, high-growth opportunity, then this is for you!

What you will be doing:

  • Develop dashboards to monitor business performance to ensure achieving KPIs for Health IQ and partners;  Proactively identify ways to improve performance and implement plans to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Identify points of process optimization by analysing sales funnel from top to bottom to quantify dropoff, determine root causes and propose solutions
  • Analyze Health IQ’s proprietary wellness data to perform studies on improved longevity and health outcomes to support the pricing and design of unique insurance products.
  • Perform experience studies on claims and persistency and illustrate performance relative to benchmarks.
  • Work with senior actuaries to build models projecting the cash flows of insurance products.
  • Develop presentations to pitch ideas and influence strategy inside and outside the company.
  • Create actionable reports for internal teams and/or external clients
  • Collaborating with team members to think critically and creatively on new products and processes 
  • Working closely with Health IQ’s Chief Underwriter, Chief Medical Director, President & Chief Business Officer, with a unique opportunity to build business acum from senior executives.
  • Interacting with and providing domain expertise to all areas the products touch including sales agents, marketing, engineering, operations, data science, legal, and finance.  Having a pulse on agent feedback to optimize products and processes.

What we’re looking for:

  • 2+ years of experience in a data analytics, actuarial or similar role
  • Has a well rounded skillset and motivated to learn new topics on the fly
  • Strong background in working with analytics using coding languages such as R, Python, or SQL
  • Knowledge of data gathering, cleaning, transforming, and visualization techniques
  • Comfortable juggling multiple tasks/deadlines simultaneously
  • Self-motivator with good judgment and a strong focus on details who thinks strategically
  • Able to work successfully both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience in insurance a plus
