Data Scientist

As part of Health IQ’s Business Insights team, the Data Scientist uses predictive analytics and innovative machine learning models to create value from data. This role is at the heart of finding and proving innovative solutions and is responsible for developing and driving strategic modeling initiatives while maintaining a close partnership with IT to ensure that our models can be deployed quickly and monitored in a flexible deployment framework.

As a Data Scientist, you will serve as a technical and thought leader on this diverse and highly skilled team. You will design and develop inventive solutions to drive innovation and the delivery of organizational value. You’ll synthesize large datasets and solve complex problems by using advanced machine learning and statistical modeling. You’ll work in a highly collaborative, team environment, guiding and mentoring junior data scientists and collaborating with multiple stakeholders. You will assist management in the communication of insights and the implementation of impactful data science solutions across the organization.

You will deliver actionable insights from your models that can be incorporated into existing Health IQ products and new programs. The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for creating solutions, an attitude of creativity, and continual learning.

What you will be doing:

  • Contribute to the design and analysis of core Health IQ products and services
  • Communicate complex quantitative analyses in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to management and executive-level audiences while building being relationships with their partners 
  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand business opportunities and formulate analytical solutions for problem-solving; working alongside other analytic individuals and team
  • Design innovative algorithms and machine-learning approaches for handling some of the most challenging and exciting datasets in today’s insurance industry
  • Provide thought leadership on the practical application of machine learning and advanced analytical methods and cultivate a data-driven culture across the company
  • Deliver clean, reusable, and scalable code
  • Work closely with Data & Engineering to deploy models

 What we’re looking for:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics or in any technical field that provides a solid basis for analytics is required
  • 4+ years of experience in data science, statistics, computer science, or mathematics where you designed, developed, evaluated, and deployed predictive modeling, machine learning, and advanced analytics
  • Extensive experience solving analytical problems using quantitative and qualitative approaches
  • Experience with state-of-the-art techniques in machine learning algorithms, including deep neural networks, NLP, dimensionality reduction, ensemble methods, graph algorithms
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in working with stakeholders
  • Strong prioritization skills while being dynamic and agile
  • Ability to advise one or more areas, programs, or functions
