Health IQ is adding a Data Engineer to its growing Analytics and Business Intelligence team. As a Data Engineer, you will work with clients, team members, department heads and 3rd party data providers, to develop, maintain, and enhance our data engineering capabilities in support of our data and predictive analytic offerings to the insurance marketplace. The ideal candidate demonstrates a curious analytical mind with the ability to understand business objectives, ask insightful questions, and be detail-oriented in implementation.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design, develop, automate, and maintain ETL/data pipelines and workflows to integrate varying data sources and enable efficient data exchanges to ensure data accessibility, completeness, and quality needed for reporting and analysis
  • Build and maintain data models, schemas, and infrastructure needed for optimal reporting to maximize data usability and consistency across different business functions
  • Partner and collaborate with Engineering and other stakeholders to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data delivery issues and create and maintain data models and architecture optimized for real-time reporting
  • Understand and evaluate data and business requirements concerning the data structure, processes, platforms, and tools used across the organization and develop scalable solution for efficient data consumption and user experience improvement
  • Liaise with upstream data providers and internal stakeholders to ensure reliability and timeliness of the data feed needed for standardized reporting
  • Perform data cleansing and validation, process and interpret data sets
  • Build and maintain test coverage over key transforms and develop alerting systems
  • Build tools to support common analytics and data science functions (feature extraction, experimentation, funnel metrics, etc.)
  • Stay up to date on industry and job-related trends, best practices, and technology, including reading relevant publications, articles, blogs, etc.


What you’ll need:

  • BS/MS in a technical field - (eg. Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics)
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data modeling, and/or data architecture for processing structure and unstructured data with proficiency in ETL and workflow management tools, SQL development (eg. SSIS, SSRS, SSAS), data pipeline automation, and data mapping techniques
  • Experience utilizing AWS S3 end to end, including AWS RDS, Glue, Athena, Redshift, Lambda, along with building and designing robust distributed data processing architectures a plus
  • Experience with a variety of data structures approaches
  • Ability to work autonomously - able to scope and prioritize work and guide junior members of the team
  • Experience working with various data structures, SQL, XML, JSON, Data visualization tools, Version Control Systems, Programming, and scripting
  • Strong communication skills and experience in working with stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities or tasks
  • Collaborate with team members in the development and maintenance of our solutions
  • Insurance industry knowledge or experience with insurance data a plus
