How You Will Make An Impact:

At thredUP, our mission is to inspire a new generation to think secondhand first, and data is critical to our success. We are seeking a curious and creative data scientist to join our team to drive critical business decisions to grow our customer base and improve the efficiency of our marketing dollars. You will be working with a highly interdisciplinary team of data scientists, software engineers, product managers, and marketers. This role will involve building and refining the algorithms that drive our growth, deriving insights from our wealth of customer and inventory data, and partnering with our marketing and product teams to evolve and grow the thredUP marketplace.

In This Role You’ll Get To

    • Implement end-to-end algorithmic solutions to drive marketing and product decisions
    • Partner with the growth marketing team to advance our attribution methodology as we take a full funnel approach to marketing and navigate evolving privacy regulations
    • Design, configure, and analyze experiments that uncover fundamental truths about our customer and drive business growth
    • Provide insights that will help enhance our understanding of customer lifetime value
    • With customer experience and growth top of mind, work with cross functional teams to build site features, advance our notification strategy, and design high-impact promotional events
    • Uncover insights hidden in our vast repository of raw data, and provide tactical guidance on how to act on findings
    • Design, code, and deploy data science and machine learning solutions across the product and business landscape in collaboration with other engineers and data scientists

What We’re Looking For

    • 3 or more years of demonstrated ability as part of a data science, product analytics, machine learning, or software development team
    • Prior experience working in B2C marketing analytics
    • Ability to effectively work with business and product leads; strong cross-functional communication skills that help push projects forward and encourage the development of new collaborations
    • Innate curiosity and drive to find insights that unlock new growth or efficiency - you can’t help but dig in and seek the truth
    • Well-rounded skill set in statistics, machine learning, software development, and project management
    • Advanced knowledge of SQL, Python and R, and experience writing code in a collaborative environment
    • Familiarity with business intelligence tools like Looker and Amplitude or similar
