Position Summary

As a Lead Data Scientist on the RWE SG&A Data Science Team for CVS Health, you will design scientific study and analytical plans for government contracts and grant proposals.

In this role you will:

  • Use statistical descriptive and predictive modeling techniques to evaluate risk scenarios and make predictions on future health outcomes.

  • Perform analyses of structured and unstructured data to solve multiple and complex business problems, utilizing advanced statistical techniques and mathematical analyses and specialized expertise in the organization and/or industry

  • Manage large and complex analytical projects from data exploration, model building, performance evaluation and testing

  • Collaborate with business partners to develop technical /business approaches and new or enhanced technical tools

  • Interact with internal and external peers and management to share highly complex information related to areas of expertise

  • Provide technical advice to junior team members

  • Solve highly complex research questions or business problems to support scientific knowledge expansion and decision making

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years in epidemiologic research, healthcare analytics, pharmacoeconomics, outcomes research, or related field using Real World Datasets

  • Extensive experience in government and industry scientific abstract, proposal, and manuscript writing with peer-reviewed journals

  • Extensive epidemiologic study design and data analysis experience

  • 5+ years of SAS programming experience

  • Experience with Aetna Enterprise Date Warehouse in UNIX environment

  • Proficient with multi-tasking

  • Track record of navigation of the corporate environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP), FDA Sentinel Common Data Model (CDM), and/or Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) CDM

  • Knowledge of FDA Sentinel Initiative (BEST, NESTcc and/ or Sentinel program)

  • Successful experience with government or industry clients in written and verbal form

  • Experience with CVS Pharmacy data in Hadoop or Snowflake

  • Experience in SAS, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and/or Tableau

  • Ability to present complex information to scientific and non-scientific audiences

Education

  • Required PhD or MD in Epidemiology, health analytics, health science, or similar degree

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$115,000.00 – $230,000.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
