Flex is an early-stage, remote-first FinTech startup that is bringing flexible payments to recurring bills. It’s hard to believe that it’s 2022 and you’re still not able to choose when you pay your bills. Flex is here to change that! Flex is a multi-bill platform. We began by revolutionizing rent — Americans’ largest recurring bill. Flex enables its users to pay rent and bills throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances. With Flex, everybody can better manage their bills and budget. After deliberately keeping a stealth profile as we built up unprecedented investor support and an enthusiastic user base, we plan to scale to 300 team members in 2022. Will you be a part of the team?
We are looking for a strong teammate that will contribute significantly to the success of “data” at Flex. You will help own the data warehouse and associated analytics stack and be actively involved in building, maintaining and optimizing analytic and operational data pipelines. You will build tooling and processes to enable data usage across the entire organization. Ideal candidates will have experience working on cross functional projects with partner teams focusing on providing value to the business. You will be responsible for raising the bar for the whole team: pushing best practices, introducing new concepts
What you’ll bring:

- Strong SQL and Python skills
- Experience with modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)
- Experience with modern orchestration platforms (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster)
- Experience with dbt, git workflows, CI/CD
- Interest in concepts like DataOps, metadata systems, metrics layers
- Experience working and leading cross functional projects with teams like Finance, Ops, Customer Success, etc.
- Experience raising the technical levels of teammates and partner teams
- Experience implementing modern data stacks
- ML/AI infrastructure
- Experience specifically with our current stack (Snowflake, Prefect, dbt Cloud)

What you’ll do in your first three months:
- By the end of day 1: Intro and get tools set up
- Within the 1st week: Push first PR to production
- Within the 1st month: Create data infrastructure roadmap and start first major project
- Within 3 months: Deliver first major project and roll out to partner teams
What a typical day will look like:
Check up on open projects, a partner team has gotten back to you and you are unblocked on that project, helping them to model data from an external vendor. You review a PR from an Analyst and advise them on how to build a more performant query and use better tests. You meet with one of the data engineers on our team to discuss how new infrastructure projects will affect current analytics workflows and how we should roll it out to partner teams.
