THE ROLE

Khan Academy is looking for an experienced data analyst/scientist to join our growing team. This role will partner with our district partnerships team to drive engagement with our product and improve student outcomes. We are looking for curious, passionate individuals who can apply their strong technical skills to mine for insights across our rich datasets, and work collaboratively across the organization to drive critical strategic decisions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and measure success of initiatives through goal setting, forecasting, monitoring, and ongoing analysis of core outcome metrics
  • Perform exploratory analyses on our rich datasets to extract insights about our teacher & learner behavior and guide our decisions around investments and initiatives
  • Use your expertise in experimentation and causal inference to quantify the impact of various programs and interventions
  • Contribute to development of self-service analytics tools to enhance data access for the district success team
  • Work with our engineering teams to improve the tools and datasets we have for our district operations

YOU MAY BE A FIT IF YOU HAVE

  • passion for Khan Academy’s vision and a desire to change the world
  • Background in applied math, statistics, economics, or a related technical field
  • 3-5 years experience in data science or analytics
  • Knowledge of statistical (i.e. multiple regression, hypothesis testing) and machine learning techniques (i.e. clustering, decision tree learning, etc.) for real-world applications
  • Knowledge about experiment design and causal inference
  • Strong SQL foundations & ability to manipulate data using R or Python
  • Strong data storytelling and visualization, with the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong business intuition & judgement, with a knack for asking the right questions
  • Prior experience working with B2B or schools business is a plus

For this position, our hiring salary range is $140-170k USD. This is determined by several factors including experience and skills, regular job market evaluations, and location.
