Position Summary :

Do you want to apply your skills in advanced analytics and optimization to support inventory strategy of $20B, increase inventory turns and effectively meet variable demand at high in-stock levels? The CVS Supply Chain team is looking to hire a talented Sr. Data Scientist to support Sales, Inventory and Operational Planning (SIOP). Join us on the journey to develop descriptive and predictive techniques to reduce cost, increase on time delivery and operationalize insights with comprehensive reports and chatbot solutions.

The Senior Data Scientist will leverage their technical and analytical expertise to drive SIOP performance. This includes analytics insights to automate distribution center (DC) volume forecast and labor planning, enable network optimization and integrate models into procurement and transportation operations. The candidate will also use advanced machine learning to enable network optimization, optimize tradeoffs and develop scenario models to answer a variety of business questions.

This person will collaborate with business leaders and partners to inform analytics approach, identify quick wins and enable step changes over time. They must be able to effectively influence and communicate with non-technical audience and promote adoption to drive sustainable impact.

Position Description:

  • Lead initiatives to drive distribution center analytics using both descriptive and predictive techniques including time-series forecasting, classification, regression and clustering
  • Leverage analytics expertise to engage with key leaders to identify new use cases to drive ambitious goals in supply chain
  • Input business requirements from various stakeholders, lead analysis of vast amounts of data in turn to synthesis strategies and tactics to solve complex problems and optimize tradeoffs
  • Develop and present insights-driven materials on analytical results with recommendations and go forward planning to guide a variety of audiences including internal stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Promote knowledge sharing and provide input on technology stack

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in descriptive and predictive analytics including gathering requirements to meet data and technology pre-requisites
  • Strategic mindset and experience leading highly technical initiatives focused on deploying data and analytics solutions in healthcare
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders, communicate insights and promote adoption of analytics insights
  • Deep expertise with data modeling/analytics in SQL and Python
  • Highly motivated to work in a fast-paced environment and enable sustainable impact in supply chain

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Familiarity with the common Python libraries used in machine learning projects
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Snowflake.), including querying/mining large datasets and deploying projects on cloud systems.
  • Familiarity with working in an Agile framework.

Education :

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or related discipline.

Master’s degree or PhD preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$103,500.00 – $200,000.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
