Software engineers in the data engineering team are responsible for making data available to our patients, clinicians, and the business. We’re building a powerful data platform that organizes, understands, and provides data that drives better healthcare outcomes to our members, reduced healthcare spend to their employers, and impactful insights to our business. 

Grand Rounds data is healthcare data: big, complex, and sensitive. Grand Rounds products are improving members’ lives by changing their health outcomes for the better. You’ll design, build, and deploy components of the distributed Apache Spark system that manages our rich heterogenous healthcare datasets to power data science, machine learning, applications, our care team, analytics, and more. 

You’ll be challenged and tasked with end-to-end responsibility of significant projects. Your technical skills will result in better healthcare outcomes for our members, improving their lives -- while contributing to a thriving and growing business.

About You:

    • You are currently working on your BS in Computer Science or related field graduating Fall 2021 or in 2022
    • Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms and programming languages
    • Desire to work on hard problems and be challenged while being supported by a strong team
    • Internship or work experience applying industry best practices
    • You have strong communication skills
    • You’re a self-starter, motivated learner and have a strong desire for professional growth

What You Will Do:

    • Collaborate with teammates to design, build, and ship high-throughput data delivery pipelines
    • Improve the data science and machine learning approaches that we’ve deployed to resolve the underlying identities of patients and doctors from the raw data
    • Gather and document partner team requirements to ensure we’re building the right things
    • Model healthcare data on the FHIR standard using the power of extensions
    • Build with security in mind as we handle patients’ most sensitive data

Bonus Points:

    • Experience in data modeling
    • Experience in our current technologies: Scala, Java, Spark, Airflow, AWS, SQL, Linux shell
** This role will be for new college recent graduates with the position starting in 2022
