About the Role 

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, the VP of Analytics is responsible for driving the vision, strategy, and delivery of our analytics efforts across multiple functions at Niche. 

This critical leadership role will manage and develop teams across Product Analytics, Data Science, Business Intelligence, Marketing Analytics & SEO, bringing forward actionable insights to enable data-driven decision-making across these teams and at Niche more broadly.

You will be developing a world-class analytics team that leverages a vast amount of first-party and third-party data to drive critical operational and strategic decisions across all aspects of our business and teams. Working with cross functional partners you’ll lead the requirements and adoption of a robust, reliable, automated reporting and data platform that empowers and informs all areas of our business beyond your teams. 

You will be responsible for defining and delivering on our current and future data and analytics strategies and requirements that allow us to scale, as well as proactively identifying new and innovative ways to drive value and impact for Niche and our customers through Data Science and Analytics. 

You will partner with other exec leaders across Niche to drive a culture of analytics, measurement, and accountability, ensuring we have line of sight into the value we’re creating across teams given our investments and help to identify when we’re seeing diminishing returns and when we need to invest more efficiently and strategically. 

What You Will Do

During the 1st Month:

  • Learn all about Niche, and our Industry. What we’re focusing on and why, and where data and analytics play a key role.
  • Get to know your current team, their focus areas, and areas of ownership, and where we have gaps. 
  • Understand the broader Data and Analytics functions and stakeholders across Niche.
  • Understand the data and analytics systems and infrastructure used across Niche today.

Within 3 Months:

  • Define and communicate a vision and strategy for the Analytics org at Niche.
  • Identify new and innovative ways to drive value and impact for Niche and our customers through Data Science and Analytics. 
  • Build a plan for scaling - Who and What do we need to unlock that value from Analytics and Data Science at Niche, today and in the future.
  • Partner with the CPO and CFO to define and measure the value created by our Product Development Teams 

Within 6 Months:

  • Build a culture of self-serve analytics, measurement, accountability and data driven decision making across Niche. 
  • Build development plans with and for your direct reports and broader teams to develop a world-class analytics team.
  • Drive the delivery and adoption of a robust, reliable, automated reporting and data platform that empowers and informs all areas of our business beyond your teams. 

What We Are Looking For

  • You’re an active and influential voice of data driven change; you are a proactive partner with senior management in making critical, data-driven decisions that will set the direction for your organization for years to come.
  • You have experience hiring, managing, and mentoring Data Scientists, Product analysts, BI Analysts, and marketing analysts at all levels. 
  • You have proven experience leading through other’s growth and development. You’re an empathetic and passionate people leader; who cares deeply about designing opportunities to grow team members at all levels of your organization. You actively participate in the career development of your team members by aligning business opportunities with developmental objectives.
  • You have a strong technical knowledge of data science, product & marketing analytics, machine learning and data engineering - with an incredible vision that fosters cross-functional collaboration and change. 
  • You must possess the ability to not only deeply understand data, but also the ability to socialize the relevant insights and takeaways more broadly and influence business decisions and priorities. You must develop your team's ability to do the same at scale. 
  • You will have experience operating over multiple horizons at the same time, creating value today through analytics, and looking into the future and creating a vision for what data science and analytics can unlock for Niche in the future. 
  • Beyond a strong analytical foundation, you will also possess good business judgment, a collaborative spirit, a curious and open mind, and a talent for clear and concise communication. All of which will be key to success in the role.
  • You have highly developed communication skills with the ability to story-tell using data and influence executive leadership in a way that can bridge between a wide range of stakeholders (technical and non-technical) at all levels.
