Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring an Associate Director, Business Intelligence to join our Data team.

About the role:

As an Associate Director, Business Intelligence you will lead our centralized Looker developer team and be responsible for defining and executing on our Business Intelligence roadmap.  You and the Looker team will partner with data analysts and data scientists to expand our Looker platform, empowering the business to derive actionable insights from our data.

We are looking for a leader to join our data team that will passionately advocate for the business strategy that they believe will benefit the company, while being the first to admit when they are wrong.  We are a group of data enthusiasts that are passionate about Oscar’s core mission to make a healthier life accessible and affordable for all.

You will report into a Senior Director of Data Science. This is a remote / work-from-home role. You must reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, or Washington, D.C. Note, this list of states is subject to change. #LI-Remote

The base pay for this role in the states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Washington is: $152,000-$199,500 per year. The base pay for this role in all other locations is: $136,800-$179,550 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program and annual performance bonuses.

You must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Oscar will not sponsor applicants for this role.

Responsibilities: 

  • Own short- and long-term Looker roadmaps, ensuring alignment with broader business strategic objectives
  • Be a strategic thought leader in how Looker should be used across the company, as well as how to grow usage internally
  • Directly manage a small team (1-3 reports) of Looker developers and champion their ongoing professional development
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to understand and define their Looker needs
  • Become the Looker SME by maintaining a working knowledge of all current and planned content and are able to answer or escalate questions raised by developers, users, business leaders and executives
  • Create frameworks, processes and tooling to monitor and track usage of Looker to identify opportunities for enhancements and drive adoption
  • Partner with the lead developer to support the Looker developer group through trainings and advisement, including defining Looker best practices
  • Present periodically to executive leadership on current and future Looker developments, roadmap, and strategy 
  • Contribute to Dashboard and LookML development

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics or a related field OR 4 years of relevant experience
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in business intelligence using a dashboarding application like Looker, Tableau, or Power BI
  • 1+ years of experience managing a team
  • Experience presenting to senior leadership, including C-level executives both internally and externally
  • Experience communicating verbally and in writing with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Strong SQL experience

Bonus Points:

  • Experience managing both technical and non-technical team members
  • Hands-on experience with Looker and LookML
  • Experience working with the Looker API or Python SDK
  • Experience with BigQuery
  • Experience working with healthcare data
  • Experience using version control in a collaborative environment (preferably git)

Pay Transparency: 

Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience.
