As a Data Scientist, you will join a team of data scientists, AI researchers, software developers, and psychometricians who provide technical and scientific leadership for some of our most important strategic efforts companywide. You will help this team deliver cutting-edge data science and/or Artificial Intelligence (DS/AI) solutions, and you will collaborate closely with colleagues across functions like Product, Engineering, Learning Design, and User Experience to help McGraw Hill create and deliver world-class educational experiences. This is a remote position open to applicants within the United States.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform research, analysis, and modeling, and present findings for use in decision making.
  • Work independently on defined DS/AI projects, checking in with your manager a few times per week.
  • Propose solutions to business problems by adopting or modifying common DS/AI practices.
  • Learn how to address a variety of problems by tailoring DS/AI concepts/tools/techniques.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other functions to support the creation of compelling learning experiences.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Doctoral degree (or equivalent) in AI, Data Science, or related field
  • Conceptual knowledge of DS/AI through rigorous course work and academic projects
  • Demonstrated ability to apply DS/AI knowledge to independently define and resolve problems, using guidelines or guidance to determine course of action
  • Experience with Bayesian modeling or computational psychometrics (preferred) 
  • Affinity for education
  • Strong technical communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience (or interest in) creating scalable and efficient production-level code
  • Knowledge of R, Python, and SQL


The pay range for this position is between $80,000-$115,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
