Manager, Product Analytics

With the increasing demand for digital learning solutions, McGraw Hill K-12 is looking for a Manager, Product Analytics, who can help drive actionable understanding of customer behavior with our digital products by collecting data, identifying patterns, themes, and potential needs and pain-points to address, and then supporting and empowering our product teams towards action.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategy & Operations, within the Product Management organization, you will evision, discover, design, develop and execute analytics strategies that support our product managers, as well as cross-functional product teams as they define product opportunities and solutions. You will collaborate closely with user and market research partners as well as additional product managers and analytics teams across the organization. Initially this role will require focus on our product analytics tool, Pendo, but we expect responsibilities to evolve based on the level of maturity within our organization.

What will you do? 

  • Iteratively develop our analytics practice: Establish, refine, instill, and continuously optimize analytics practices using a combination of tools and processes. Our adoption and implementation of Pendo is where you’ll start.
  • Talk to product teams: Interface with product managers and product teams to understand their needs, identify opportunities, share best practices, share direction, and gather feedback.
  • Talk to stakeholders: Interface with all functions in the organization (engineering, UX, customer success, sales, marketing, etc) to ensure understanding of needs, identify opportunities, develop practices, and communicate direction
  • Produce dashboards and reports: Once patterns and themes emerge based on product team and stakeholder feedback, act by designing and producing Pendo reports, dashboards, etc. that help tell the story of what’s going on and address business needs and opportunities.
  • Empower and coach: Help scale the approach by empowering product managers and teams to dig in and focus on their own, so that they can make better, more timely decisions.
  • Understand and influence the vision for our product management organization through conversations and collaboration with product leadership. Today we’re focused on a product management transformation—what it’s going to take to become a product led company.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to improve practices and tools in alignment with our vision.
  • Measure and report on our level of success against our product management transformation vision and goals as well as specific product feature goals. Write reports and create presentations for various stakeholder audiences as needed.

What can you bring to the role?

  • Passion and prior experience with analytics tools and medium to large scale analytics implementations. You understand the power of analytics and have helped others along this journey.
  • Technical prowess – you don’t need to code, but you shouldn’t be afraid of diving into technical issues  
  • Leadership skills – ability to influence and inspire within and beyond your team  
  • Experience articulating objectives and measuring your success  
  • An appreciation and passion for well-designed solutions  
  • Attention to detail  
  • Communication skills to clearly articulate and evangelize decisions  
  • Self-motivation and critical feedback skills (giving/receiving) that help level up solutions

The pay range for this position is between $100,000 – $120,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
