As Director of Artificial Intelligence, you will lead the team of AI researchers, data scientists, and engineers who provide technical and scientific leadership for some of our most important strategic efforts companywide. Under your leadership, this team will deliver cutting-edge AI solutions to help McGraw Hill create and deliver world-class instructional and assessment experiences. You will join the organization of the Chief Data Scientist of McGraw Hill’s School group and collaborate with colleagues across functions like Product, Engineering, Academic Design, and User Experience. This is a remote position open to applicants within the United States.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage a team of Data Scientists focusing on Generative AI (GenAI). This involves hiring and training top talent, encouraging continued learning, providing guidance and support, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment, and ensuring that expertise is optimally utilized.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify GenAI needs, define project requirements, and ensure GenAI initiatives are aligned with business objectives. This includes presenting findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Lead the design and implementation of technical solutions in alignment with organizational goals. Define projects for the team and keep an overview of different projects and timelines.

We're looking for someone with:

  • 8+ years of applicable experience
  • Demonstrated leadership capacity (technical leadership as well as team management)
  • Deep knowledge in the fields of AI and/or Data Science, with a recent focus on GenAI
  • Crisp communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred:

  • Successful implementation of substantial GenAI functionality in a production context
  • Experience in the educational technology industry

The pay range for this position is between $140,000-$200,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
