The Opportunity: The Democratic National Committee’s Tech Team is seeking an Insights Analytics Lead to support our ongoing mission of empowering Democrats up and down the ballot to win more elections by running effective, data-driven campaigns.

In this role, you will lead the DNC Analytics Team’s strategic electorate analysis initiatives, equipping the DNC to be a leader in analyzing and understanding trends – in election results, voter registration changes, and more. You will be responsible for leading both historical electoral analysis and future-looking analytics focused on informing DNC resource allocation and program planning for the 2022 election cycle and beyond. You will partner closely with departments across the DNC – communicating the outcomes of analysis to help shape a narrative about the changing electorate, supporting strategic planning and resource allocation decisions across programs, and identifying opportunities for future analysis to proactively address key strategic questions.

We’re looking for a strategic, analytics-minded leader, who can turn data into insights that inform decision-making, and who is adept at communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Who We Are: We are a fully remote, distributed team living in 19 states and from a variety of backgrounds. Some of us have worked in political campaigns, others in public sector tech, and others in industry. We value diversity in perspective, lived experience, and the many paths one may take into working in political technology. We believe deeply in the promise of breaking the boom-bust cycle of political tech work and building technology infrastructure that will support campaigns from cycle to cycle and will improve with every iteration.

You will:

    • Work closely with our Analytics Director and other members of the DNC’s Data & Analytics Team to develop a plan for both retrospective and forward-looking analysis to inform resource allocation and other strategic decision making across the DNC’s programs;
    • Lead the analytics component of a retrospective review of the 2020 election cycle focused on evaluating the relationship between program investments and electoral outcomes;
    • Conduct electorate analysis to understand the role various coalitions played in 2020 electoral outcomes, to evaluate changes in the composition of the electorate over time, and to help inform future voter engagement priorities;
    • Partner with departments across the DNC to translate insights from this analysis into recommendations for future program investments; and,
    • Support the DNC’s Communications Team in leverage these insights to inform an ongoing narrative about voter and electoral trends.

You'll likely be a good fit if you:

    • Have experience in political data, and particularly in working with voter file data for analysis;
    • Are a fluent SQL user, comfortable wrangling big data sets to extract meaning have strong data visualization and data storytelling skills, including: 1) experience communicating the results of analysis to non-technical decision makers, and 2) ideally, experience worked with data visualization tools like Google Data Studio, Tableau, Periscope, or Looker to present your analysis;
    • Understand the role data can play in strategic program planning;
    • You think of analysis through the lens of the decisions it will inform, and are deeply focused on asking the right questions before you dive into the weeds of any particular analysis;
    • Are comfortable working across teams with a variety of experiences – balancing input from multiple stakeholders, prioritizing among competing priorities, and building consensus around the outputs of your work; and,
    • A passionate commitment to Democratic values and the power of a team that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

While not required, we’d be excited to see:

    • Experience as a people manager. This role may not necessarily have direct reports but it’s a possibility in the future and we’d love to bring someone on who’s excited about the future possibility of building out a team; and,
    • Experience working with the DNC’s data and analytics tools, including experience doing analysis in our data warehouse (Phoenix).
