We are looking for a Junior Data Operations Engineer to integrate our Data Strategy team. If you’re a Data Engineer and you enjoy leveraging code to quickly adapt to changing needs in an operative environment or if you are a Data Analyst that can code in python to solve operative issues, we are looking for you.

You will be part of the Data Strategy team in charge of growing our Sustainability database, allowing us to enhance the productivity of the research team and reduce the operation burden of the development team.

You will interact with the development team as well as with the research team.

Location 

The role is based in Spain, (ideally Madrid).

Way of Working: Remote / Hybrid 

Working as a Junior Data Operations Engineer you will be responsible for: 

  • Consult data and use your coding skills (Python and SQL) to manage data from different data sources (S3, postgreSQL, etc.) in order to define the information to retrieve in our collection efforts.
  • Create automated and refreshable dashboards and reports for different stakeholders using your SQL and Python coding skills and using tools and services such as DBT and Quicksight.
  • Developing process operations and process automations using orchestration tools, APIs and overall best practices in streamlining business processes. 
  • Capable of serving data to non-technical and technical teams as a form of a dataset or a compelling dashboard/visualization.
  • Monitor the different collection efforts and debug problems.
  • Offering technical support to business stakeholders around their day to day operational work.
  • Modify and create new ETLs helped by the data-engineering team (we use Airflow to manage ETLs).
  • Support the configuration/integration of third party tools and work on web scraping activities and tasks.
  • Writing maintainable code with tests, applying version control, and uploading it to Gitlab.
  • Interfacing with the Data Science team on serving data for modeling and predictions and helping deliver high quality data based on business rules to specific data stores.

We like Data Analysts and Engineers who adapt quickly to new tasks, interrogating our database to define which are the gaps we need to fill with our research efforts. You like serving changing needs using your coding skills and data analysis abilities to streamline the research activities of a team of more than 25 researchers.

You enjoy removing technical obstacles, finding solutions to technical and operative problems. You understand the limitations of a productive environment and the need to quickly react.

As the ideal candidate for the position:

  • Approximately 2 years industry experience in the data analytics and data engineering field.
  • You possess very strong SQL, Python database skills, and can make invocations to APIs
  • You have the ability or at least familiar in using different tools such as SnowFlake, Airflow, AWS Services (ie. S3, Quicksight), and DBT
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills. (Minimum C1 level-proficient user). Able to write technical documentation clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in advanced analytics, data engineering and a similar related field of data management.
  • Highly motivated, independent and deeply passionate about sustainability and impact.
  • You hold a degree in a quantitative field (CS, Engineer, Math, Physics, … )
  • You  are able to write notebooks, review code and find bugs in simple functions. You are good at using pandas and understand how to map, filter and reduce. You also understand the limitations pandas have when working with large datasets.
  • Experience in collaborating with engineering teams and stakeholders to build key datasets and executing data pipelines using Python/ETL frameworks.
  • Can work well with the Business and Technology stakeholders to deliver business initiatives on time by understanding the business need and responding with the necessary functional, systems and data requirements analysis.
  • Strong communication skills. The right candidate can thrive in an environment of asynchronous conversation, since a part of the Clarity AI team will be based remotely. We expect you to have strong communication skills and be able to create working relationships with coworkers across various locations.
  • You are open to try new technologies and programming languages.
  • EU/Spanish Work permit

It will be a plus if you had:

  • Experience in the financial sector.
